Alvin "Bud" Dupree Jr. (born February 12, 1993) is an American professional football player. He plays as a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the Chargers, he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Atlanta Falcons. Bud Dupree played college football for the Kentucky Wildcats and was chosen in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.

Bud Dupree's Early Life
Bud Dupree grew up in Irwinton, Georgia. He went to Wilkinson County High School. In high school, he was a strong player on both offense and defense. He played as a defensive end and tight end.
High School Achievements
As a senior, Dupree caught passes for over 1,000 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. On defense, he made 62 tackles and 10 sacks. He was named First-team all-state by sports writers. Bud also played basketball and was an honor roll student.
College Football Career
Bud Dupree played college football at the University of Kentucky for the Kentucky Wildcats. He started playing in 2011.
Freshman Year (2011)
As a freshman, Dupree played in 12 games. He started three games as a linebacker. He made 21 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and recovered one fumble.
Sophomore Year (2012)
In his second year, Dupree started all 12 games. He had 91 tackles, 12.5 tackles-for-loss, and 6.5 sacks. He was one of the top players in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) for tackles and sacks. After this season, he changed his position to defensive lineman.
Junior Year (2013)
As a junior, Dupree played in 11 games. He was second on his team with 61 tackles. He led the team with 9.5 tackles-for-loss and had seven sacks. He also forced two fumbles.
Senior Year (2014)
In his senior year, Dupree was a starter again and was chosen as a team captain. He had 74 tackles and eight sacks. He also made his first career interception. He returned this interception for a game-winning touchdown against South Carolina. Bud Dupree graduated from the University of Kentucky in May 2015.
Professional Football Journey
After college, many experts thought Bud Dupree would be a top pick in the NFL draft. He showed off his skills at the NFL combine and Kentucky's pro day. Scouts liked his speed, strength, and power.
Joining the Pittsburgh Steelers (2015-2020)
The Pittsburgh Steelers picked Bud Dupree in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. He was the 22nd player chosen overall.
Rookie Season (2015)
On May 15, 2015, Dupree signed a four-year contract with the Steelers. He started his first season as a backup player. In his first game, he made two tackles and sacked Tom Brady. He played in all 16 games and started five times. He finished his rookie year with 26 tackles and four sacks.
2016 Season
Dupree became a starting linebacker for the Steelers in 2016. He was placed on injured reserve early in the season due to a groin injury. He returned to play in November. In December, he had a great game against the Buffalo Bills, making six tackles and 2.5 sacks.
2017 Season
Bud Dupree continued as a starting linebacker in 2017. He missed the first game due to a shoulder injury. In Week 4, he helped the Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens by making four tackles and a sack.
2018 Season
In April 2018, the Steelers extended Dupree's contract. On September 24, he made his first career interception and returned it for a touchdown. He ended the 2018 season with 42 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
2019 Season
The 2019 season was a career-best for Dupree. In Week 9, he had two sacks and forced a fumble against the Indianapolis Colts. This earned him the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award. He also had a strip sack and recovered the ball in Week 12. He finished the season with 11.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
2020 Season
The Steelers kept Dupree for the 2020 season using the franchise tag. In Week 2, he recorded his first sack of the season. Sadly, in Week 12, he tore his ACL (a knee ligament) and missed the rest of the season.
Playing for the Tennessee Titans (2021-2022)
On March 19, 2021, Dupree signed a five-year contract with the Tennessee Titans. He started the 2021 season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to an injury. He returned to practice in August. He later suffered an abdominal injury and was placed on injured reserve again. In the 2022 season, Dupree recorded four sacks and 18 tackles. The Titans released him in March 2023.
Time with the Atlanta Falcons (2023)
On April 14, 2023, Bud Dupree signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He started 16 games and tied for the team lead with 6.5 sacks.
Joining the Los Angeles Chargers (2024-Present)
On May 11, 2024, Dupree signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. He continues to play for the Chargers as of July 2025.

Bud Dupree grew up in Toomsboro, Georgia. His father is Alvin Dupree Sr., and his mother is Sophia Stephens. He loves dogs very much. His godmother gave him the nickname "Bud." She had a dream that people would call him Bud and that he would play football.
