California's 1st congressional district is a special area in the U.S. state of California. This area chooses one person to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. Think of it like a team captain for a large part of California!
Currently, the district is represented by Doug LaMalfa. He is a member of the Republican Party. He has been the representative since 2013. Before him, the district had not had a Republican representative since 1998.
