Carlos Núñez was born in 1971 in Vigo, a city in Galicia, Spain. He started playing the bagpipes when he was just eight years old. When he was a teenager, he was invited to play with a special orchestra. This was at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany, France.
He also studied the recorder at the Royal Conservatory in Madrid. Carlos quickly became known as a very talented young musician. He met Paddy Moloney from the famous band The Chieftains. Two years later, he started performing with them. People even called him the "7th member" of the band! He played on their Grammy-winning album, Santiago. This album focused on Galician music.

Carlos Núñez has worked with many other great musicians. These include Ry Cooder, Sharon Shannon, and Sinéad O'Connor. He also collaborated with bands like Altan and La Vieja Trova Santiaguera. One of his most famous albums is A Irmandade Das Estrelas from 1996. It sold over 100,000 copies, which was a huge success! On this album, he worked with many artists.
