Cecil Dale Andrus (born August 25, 1931 – died August 24, 2017) was an important American politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Andrus served as the Governor of Idaho for a total of 14 years. He was governor from 1971 to 1977 and again from 1987 to 1995. He also served as the U.S. Secretary of the Interior from 1977 to 1981. This was during the time Jimmy Carter was president.

Andrus passed away in Boise, Idaho, on August 24, 2017. He died just one day before his 86th birthday.

Early Life and Military Service

Cecil Dale Andrus was born in Hood River, Oregon. He later moved to Idaho. Before starting his political career, Andrus served in the U.S. Navy. He was in the Navy from 1951 to 1955.
