Celoron (pronounced SEL-ər-on) is a small village in Chautauqua County, New York. It is part of the town of Ellicott. Celoron is located right next to the city of Jamestown. In 2020, about 1,082 people lived there.

Celoron's Story: A Look Back
Celoron has an interesting past! Before the village was officially formed, a fun place called Celoron Park was built. This amusement park opened in 1893 or 1894. It was inspired by famous parks like those at Coney Island and Atlantic City. Celoron Park was a popular spot for many years before it closed in 1962.
The village of Celoron became official in 1896. Its name comes from a French explorer named Pierre Joseph Céloron de Blainville. He was an officer who explored the Ohio area a long time ago.
From 1898, Celoron was also home to a baseball team called the Acme Giants.
Where is Celoron Located?
Celoron is in the western part of the town of Ellicott. It sits right on the south shore of Chautauqua Lake. This means it has beautiful lake views! To the east, Celoron borders the city of Jamestown. To the south and west, it's surrounded by other parts of the town of Ellicott.
The village is quite small. It covers an area of about 1.9 square kilometers (or 0.75 square miles). All of this area is land, with no water within the village limits.

Celoron is connected to a very famous person: Lucille Ball! She was an American actress, known for her funny roles. Lucille Ball lived in Celoron during her teenage years. Her home at 59 W. 8th Street is now called 59 Lucy Lane.
If you visit the nearby city of Jamestown, you can find the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center. Celoron also gained international attention because of a statue of Lucille Ball located there.
