Chahuis facts for kids
Chahuis or xamoes are common names for certain edible insects found in Mexico. These insects are a type of beetle, belonging to the insect group called Coleoptera. In English, people sometimes call them stick worms, rhinoceros beetles, or simply grubs.
Chahuis insects like to eat parts of the Mesquite tree. The larvae (young insects) from certain beetle families are especially popular to eat. These include the longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae), dung beetles (Scarabaeidae), Melolonthidae, and Passalidae families.
