Charles Lollar was born on June 22, 1971. He is an American businessman and a politician from the Republican Party. He used to be an officer in the Marine Corps. Later, he ran for political office in Maryland.
Charles Lollar's Career
Charles Lollar served in the Marine Corps from 1997 to 2003. He was sent to Kosovo in 1999 as part of a peacekeeping mission. He also helped with earthquake relief efforts in Turkey. After leaving active duty in 2003, he joined the Marine Corps Reserve. There, he worked as an intelligence officer.
Later, Lollar worked as a general manager for a company called Cintas. As of July 2014, he was a consultant for a government contractor.
Political Campaigns
Charles Lollar's first try at politics was in 2004. He ran for the school board in Gwinnett County, Georgia, but he did not win.
Lollar then moved to Maryland. He became a leader for the Republican Party in Charles County. He was part of the Tea Party movement, a political group.
In 2010, Lollar ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives. He wanted to represent Maryland's 5th congressional district. He won the Republican primary election with 58% of the votes. However, in the main election, he lost to the current representative, Steny Hoyer. Hoyer received 64.3% of the votes, while Lollar received 34.6%.
After this, Lollar became a director for a group called Americans for Prosperity in Maryland. He also led a PAC (a group that raises money for political campaigns) called New Day Maryland. He spoke at events supporting the right to own guns and against high taxes. In 2012, he was a delegate at the Republican National Convention.
On September 2, 2013, Lollar announced he would run for Governor of Maryland in the 2014 election. He chose Kenneth R. Timmerman as his running mate. In the primary election held on June 24, 2014, Lollar finished third. He received 15.5% of the votes. Larry Hogan won that primary with 43% of the votes.
After losing the governor's race, Lollar decided to run for the Charles County Board of Commissioners. He ran for the district 1 seat. He faced the current Democratic Commissioner, Ken Robinson. Lollar spent more money on his campaign than Robinson. He promised to freeze taxes without cutting services. However, he did not explain how he would do this. Lollar lost this election to Robinson. Robinson received 25,467 votes (57%), while Lollar received 19,112 votes (42.7%).

Charles Lollar is married to Rosha. They have four daughters. The family lives in Lawrenceville, GA.
