Chavannes-sur-Moudon is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It is found in the Broye-Vully area within the canton of Vaud. This charming place is known for its peaceful surroundings.

Chavannes-sur-Moudon was first mentioned in official records way back in 1453. At that time, it was known as Chavanes.

Chavannes-sur-Moudon covers an area of about 5.14 square kilometers (about 2 square miles). A large part of this land, about 75.5%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 19.5% of the area. The remaining 5.3% of the land is where buildings and roads are located.

Most of the built-up areas are homes and other buildings. Roads and other transport paths make up a smaller part. In the forested areas, most are dense woods. A small part has orchards or groups of trees. For farming, over half the land is used for growing crops. The rest is used as pastures for animals.

The town used to be part of the Moudon District. But in 2006, it became part of the newer Broye-Vully district. Chavannes-sur-Moudon is located on the right side of the Broye River. It is also close to the border of the Canton of Fribourg.
