Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Markus Randle was born on July 4, 1991, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He grew up in Edgefield, South Carolina. Music was a big part of his family life. His mother sang in his grandfather's church, and his father was a rapper and producer.
Markus started making beats, which are the background music for songs, when he was in middle school. He used a computer program called FL Studio. He kept making beats through high school and college. Eventually, he decided to leave college to focus completely on making music.
Childish Major's Music Journey
In 2011, Childish Major moved from South Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia. He wanted to become a professional music producer. When he first arrived in Atlanta, he worked with artists like Two-9, Rome Fortune, and Spillage Village.
He also became friends with DJ Spinz, a producer from Atlanta. DJ Spinz signed Childish Major to his music group, Hood Rich. This helped Childish Major get his first big opportunity. He produced the song "U.O.E.N.O." for rapper Rocko in 2013. The song featured Future and Rick Ross and became a huge hit. It reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Many other artists, including Kendrick Lamar and ASAP Rocky, made their own versions of the song. In 2013, Childish Major also produced songs for Young Jeezy and Juicy J.
Collaborations and First EP
In 2014, Childish Major started working with rapper Matik Estrada. They released songs together, like "Family Matters." This led to their joint music collection, an EP called Community Service, which came out in March 2015. This EP included the song "Keep Running" with a guest appearance from Big K.R.I.T.. During this time, Childish Major also produced music for artists such as SZA, Big K.R.I.T., and EarthGang.
Releasing His Own Music
In July 2016, Childish Major celebrated his 25th birthday by releasing a song called "Happy Birthday." It featured Isaiah Rashad and SZA. Later that year, in December 2016, he helped produce the main song for J. Cole's album, 4 Your Eyez Only.
In July 2017, Childish Major released his own song, "Woo$ah." He followed this with another song, "Supply Luh," in September. J. Cole produced "Supply Luh," and it was even featured on a TV show called Insecure. These songs, along with "Happy Birthday," were part of Childish Major's first mixtape, also called Woo$ah.
