Christine is a small city in Richland County, North Dakota, in the United States. In 2020, about 151 people lived there. Christine was started in 1883. It is part of the Wahpeton, ND–MN area, which is a group of towns that are connected economically.

History of Christine
Christine began in 1883. It was a settlement for people from Scandinavia, especially Sweden and Norway. It was built along the Milwaukee Railroad in Eagle Township. A post office opened in 1884, and the railroad built a train station in 1886.
How Christine Got Its Name
There are a few stories about how Christine got its name. Most people think it was named after Christina Nilsson. She was a very famous Swedish opera singer at the time.
However, some people believe it was named after Kristine, the wife of an early settler named Knute Norby. The story goes that Knute Norby wanted the town named after himself, but the other townspeople said no. So, they named it after his wife instead.
Becoming a City
For many years, Christine was just a small part of Eagle Township. It was not officially a city. But in 1976, it officially became an incorporated city. This means it got its own local government.
