Clive Russell is a Scottish actor. He was born on December 7, 1945. He is famous for playing different characters in TV shows and movies. Some of his well-known roles include Chief Inspector Frederick Abberline in Ripper Street and Brynden Tully in Game of Thrones. He also appeared as Lord Lovat in Outlander.
Russell has also been in Scottish comedy shows like Still Game and Rab C Nesbitt. He played Billy Brodie in the teen drama Hollyoaks. In the video game Still Wakes the Deep, he was the voice of Davey Rennick.

Clive Russell was born in Winchester, England. However, he grew up in Leven, Scotland. He went to Parkhill Primary School. Later, he attended Buckhaven High School.
Clive Russell's Acting Career
Clive Russell first performed in front of an audience in 1960. This was on The Shari Lewis Show. His first professional acting job was in 1980. He performed on stage in London. He played a superintendent in a play called Accidental Death of an Anarchist. This play was about police corruption.
Early TV and Film Roles
After his stage debut, Russell appeared in many British TV shows. He also acted in several films. These included The Power of One and The Hawk. He became known to international audiences in the BBC miniseries Middlemarch. This show was based on a famous novel.
In 1996, he starred with Helena Bonham Carter in Margaret's Museum. For this role, he was nominated for a Genie Award. He later played Ralph Fiennes' father in the film Oscar and Lucinda.
