The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame (CSHoF) is a special place in Colorado. It is a hall of fame and a museum. This means it celebrates amazing athletes and leaders in sports from Colorado. It honors people who have achieved great things in sports.
The museum is located in Denver, Colorado. You can find it at Gate #1 on the west side of Empower Field at Mile High. Every year, new members are added to the Hall of Fame. Their names are honored on the Sports Legend Mall and Legacy Pillars right next to the museum. The Hall of Fame started in 1964. It opened as a museum in August 2001, when the sports stadium also opened.
How People Join the Hall of Fame
How do people get into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame? A group of about 29 media members from all over Colorado decides. This group is called the Selection Committee.
Anyone can suggest a person to be considered for the Hall of Fame. From these suggestions, the committee chooses four to six new members each year. They look for people who are well-known and respected in sports. They also consider those who have brought "fame and glory to the State of Colorado." This can be through playing sports, teaching, coaching, or even reporting on sports.
