Cooyar is a small country town in the Toowoomba Region of Queensland, Australia. It is also a locality, which is like a specific area or neighborhood. In 2021, about 231 people lived in the Cooyar area.

Where is Cooyar?
Cooyar is located in an area called the Darling Downs. It sits right on the New England Highway. This highway is a major road. The town is about 204 kilometers (127 miles) north-west of Brisbane. Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland.
A Look at Cooyar's Past
People started to settle in Cooyar a long time ago. Land became available for selection on April 17, 1877. About 18,500 acres of land were ready for people to choose.
The Cooyar Post Office opened in March 1907. Before that, a smaller "receiving office" had been open since 1904.
St Francis' Anglican Church was officially opened on April 12, 1928. It closed its doors on March 28, 1999.
