Cristiano Lucarelli (born 4 October 1975) is an Italian football manager and a former player. He played as a forward, which means he was a goal scorer.

Playing Career Highlights
Cristiano Lucarelli was born in Livorno, Italy. He played for many different teams during his career. He even played for a short time in Spain with Valencia.
Returning to Livorno
In 2003, Cristiano joined his hometown team, Livorno. He had watched them get promoted to Serie B the year before and celebrated with the fans. When he joined Livorno, he made a huge impact. In the 2003–04 season, he scored 29 goals in 38 games. This made him a hero to Livorno fans.
The next season, 2004–05, he was the top goal scorer in Serie A, with 24 goals in 35 games. Livorno finished in eighth place that year. Cristiano was very loyal to Livorno. He turned down offers from other big clubs. He once said, "Some football players pay a billion for a Ferrari or a yacht; with that money, I bought myself Livorno’s shirt. That's all." He scored his 100th Serie A goal in April 2007.
Moving to Other Clubs
After a while, Cristiano decided to leave Livorno. In July 2007, he joined Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. He was the first Italian player to play in Ukraine. He scored his first European goal for Shakhtar in a Champions League qualifying game.
In January 2008, Cristiano moved back to Italy to play for Parma. His younger brother, Alessandro, also joined Parma later. Cristiano played for Parma for a couple of seasons. He then returned to Livorno on loan in 2009. After his loan ended, he went back to Parma. In 2010, he was loaned to Napoli. He played for Napoli for two seasons before retiring from playing football in 2012.
Playing for Italy
Cristiano Lucarelli played for the Italian national team six times between 2005 and 2007, scoring 3 goals. He was also part of the team that played in the 1996 Summer Olympics.
He scored his first goal for Italy in a friendly game against Serbia and Montenegro in June 2005. He was not chosen for the 2006 FIFA World Cup team. However, he was called back to the national team by the new coach, Roberto Donadoni. He also played in some Euro 2008 qualifying matches. In October 2007, he scored two goals in a friendly win against South Africa.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Cristiano Lucarelli started a new career as a coach.
Early Coaching Roles
He began as a youth coach at Parma in 2012. He then became the head coach for several clubs in Italy's lower leagues. These included Perugia, Viareggio, Pistoiese, Tuttocuoio, and Messina.
Success with Ternana
In 2017, he became the head coach of Catania. He later coached Livorno for a short time. In August 2020, he joined Ternana in Serie C. Under his leadership, Ternana had a fantastic season. They won their league division and were promoted to Serie B in April 2021. They also won the Supercoppa di Serie C in 2021.
He continued to coach Ternana in Serie B. He was dismissed and reappointed a couple of times. In November 2023, he returned to coach Catania in Serie C. He left Catania in March 2024.

Family Life
Cristiano has a younger brother named Alessandro, who was also a professional footballer. Alessandro played as a defender and was the captain of Parma. Cristiano's son, Mattia, born in 1999, also became a footballer and played for Livorno.
Interests and Views
Cristiano Lucarelli is known for his strong connection to his hometown club, Livorno. He has the Livorno team logo tattooed on his arm. His jersey number, 99, was a tribute to a group of Livorno fans.
He is also known for openly sharing his political views. He often used a clenched-fist salute after scoring goals, which is a symbol associated with the Communist party. He has openly said he supports communism. He is also a big admirer of Che Guevara, whose image is often seen on Livorno fans' banners. In 1997, after scoring for Italy's Under-21 team, he showed a shirt with Che Guevara's image. This led to him not being called up for the national team for several years.
