Daniel Francis Croll (born on July 18, 1990) is an English singer and songwriter. He is well-known for his songs like "From Nowhere," "Compliment Your Soul," "Home," and "Yesterday." His music often blends different styles, including indie pop (a type of independent pop music) and folktronica (a mix of folk and electronic music). He also explores sounds from indie folk, folk-pop, rock music, and 1970s-style R&B and soft rock.
In 2011, while studying at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, he was named Songwriter of the Year by the Musicians' Benevolent Fund. His first song, "From Nowhere," came out in 2012 and became quite popular. After that, he released his first full album, Sweet Disarray, in 2014. Since then, he has released more albums: Emerging Adulthood (2017), Grand Plan (2020), and Fools (2023). He also released an EP (a shorter music collection) called On Top in 2021.

Dan Croll's Music Journey
Starting Out
Dan Croll was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. When he was 18, he moved to Liverpool to study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). While at LIPA, he won a big national award: Songwriter of the Year. He was also one of only eight students chosen to have a special one-on-one meeting with LIPA's founder, Sir Paul McCartney from The Beatles! Dan even wrote his 2020 song "Yesterday" about that amazing experience.
First Songs and Albums
In 2012, Dan Croll signed with Turn First Records. His very first song, "From Nowhere," was released worldwide on September 24, 2012. It quickly became popular online and was played on major radio stations in the UK, like BBC 6 Music and XFM. The song also got airplay in the US. In November 2012, a newspaper called The Guardian featured him as a "New Band of the Day." They described his music as "Paul Simon jamming with Prince," which means it was a cool mix of folk and pop sounds.
He then released his second song, "Compliment Your Soul," in March 2013. Another song, "In/Out," followed in July 2013. On October 13, 2013, Dan released "Home" on his VEVO YouTube channel. Later that month, he shared that he had finished recording his first full album, which was expected to come out in early 2014.
Dan's music has also been featured in video games! His song "Compliment Your Soul" was in the game FIFA 14. A remix of "From Nowhere" was even played on a radio station in Grand Theft Auto V.
On April 19, 2014, for Record Store Day (a special day for music fans), Dan released a limited-edition orange vinyl record. It had two new songs: "Hello My Baby" and "Ever at Your Side." For "Hello My Baby," Dan traveled all the way to Durban to record with the famous South African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Recent Music
In September 2015, Dan Croll released a new song called "One of Us." The next year, in June 2016, he announced he had joined a new record label, Communion Music.
His electronic-style song "Swim" came out on August 25, 2016, with a music video released soon after. Dan's second album, Emerging Adulthood, was released on July 21, 2017.
In 2018, Dan moved from Liverpool to Los Angeles. In 2019 and 2020, he started working with producer Matthew E. White in Virginia. In early 2020, he released several new songs and announced his third album, Grand Plan, which came out on August 21, 2020. In 2021, he released a live version of that album. Later that year, he released a four-song EP called On Top.
