Danny Glover (born July 22, 1946) is a famous American actor and producer. He is also known for his work as a political activist, speaking up for important causes. Throughout his career, he has won many awards, including a special humanitarian award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He has also been nominated for five Emmy Awards and four Grammy Awards.

In 2001, Glover was in the film The Royal Tenenbaums, which also featured stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Stiller. In 2004, he appeared in the film Saw as Detective David Tapp. He also voiced Miles, an old mule, in the animated movie Barnyard (2006). In 2007, he played Colonel Isaac Johnson in the action movie Shooter.

In 2009, Glover was in The People Speak, a documentary that used performances of letters and speeches from everyday Americans. He also had roles in the TV shows ER and Brothers & Sisters.

Glover played the President of the United States in the disaster film 2012, which came out in November 2009. In 2010, he was in the comedy film Death at a Funeral.

Personal Life

Danny Glover married Asake Bomani in 1975. They had a daughter named Mandisa in 1976. Glover and Bomani divorced in 2000. He later married Eliane Cavalleiro in 2009, and they divorced in 2022.

While attending San Francisco State University, Danny Glover was part of the Black Students' Union. This group helped lead a long student strike to create the first Department of Black Studies and the first School of Ethnic Studies in the United States.

Glover is a board member of several organizations, including the Algebra Project and the Black AIDS Institute. He was once arrested during a protest outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington. This protest was about the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

In 1999, he used his experience as a former San Francisco cab driver to highlight an issue. He spoke about how African Americans were sometimes passed over by cabs in favor of white passengers. This led to changes in how cab drivers were regulated.

Glover is an active board member of the TransAfrica Forum, which focuses on issues affecting Africa and the Caribbean. In 2009, he received a special title in Imo State, Nigeria, meaning "A Good Friend."

In 2018, as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, Glover met with Lula in Brazil to show his support. He also met with the family of Marielle Franco, a city council member and activist who was murdered in Rio de Janeiro.

After the devastating 2010 Haiti earthquake, Glover spoke about how climate change could affect other island nations. He called for new international partnerships to help Haiti and other Caribbean countries.

Awards and Recognition
