Scientific classification

Dendropsophus melanargyreus is a type of small-to-medium-sized tree frog. It belongs to the Hylidae family, which includes many different kinds of tree frogs. This frog is found in several South American countries. These include Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, Paraguay, and Suriname.

These frogs live in special places called habitats. Their favorite homes are dry or moist forests in warm areas. They also like wet, swampy places called freshwater marshes that sometimes dry up. Sadly, their homes are disappearing. This means they are threatened by habitat loss.

What Does This Frog Look Like?

Dendropsophus melanargyreus frogs have unique markings. They often have dark spots on their backs. These spots can be gray, tan, or even dark yellow and brown.

One special mark is a reddish-brown "X" shape. This "X" starts near their upper eyelids and goes down to their lower back. Their bellies are usually white or pale yellow. They also have tiny black spots on their undersides.

The Dendropsophus marmoratus Group

This frog is part of a special group of eight species. They are all called the Dendropsophus marmoratus group. Frogs in this group share some cool features.

They have bumpy skin around their lower lip. They also have large vocal sacs, which are like balloons under their throats. These sacs help them make loud calls. Another common feature is their marbled patterns on their backs.
