Denton Hill State Park is a fun 700-acre (283 ha) park in Pennsylvania. It's a great spot for downhill skiing! You can find it on U.S. Route 6, between the towns of Coudersport and Galeton. Since 2000, Denton Hill State Park has been part of the Hills Creek State Park group. This group includes eight state parks in Potter and Tioga counties.

Fun Activities at Denton Hill State Park

Denton Hill State Park was the first place in Pennsylvania to offer skiing run by the state government. The park officially started in 1951. It opened for skiing in 1959. The main lodge and ski area were built between 1958 and 1967. The state ran the ski area until 1979. After that, a private company called "Ski Denton" took over. The park stopped offering downhill skiing in late 2014. This happened when the contract with the private company ended. The state is now looking into ways to fully reopen the park.

Skiing and Snow Tubing Adventures

The park used to have many different ski slopes. There were easy slopes for beginners. There were also very challenging slopes for expert skiers. These were some of the toughest slopes on the East Coast! Denton Hill State Park has four ski lifts. Each lift takes you to a different height on the slopes. You could also go Snow tubing at the park. This is a fun way to slide down the snow on a big tube.

Cozy Cabins and Bunkhouses

There are five cozy cabins at the park. Each cabin has two bedrooms. They can sleep up to six people. The cabins have soft carpeting on the floors. They also have a big living room with a high ceiling. Plus, each cabin has a full kitchen, a dining room, and a bathroom. If you're looking for a different option, there's also a bunkhouse. It's like a hostel and sits above the main lodge building.

Mountain Biking and Hiking Trails

When there's no snow, Ski Denton opens its slopes for mountain bike riders. When the ski lifts were working, bikers could use them to get to the top. There are over 50 miles (80 km) of trails for mountain biking. These include both downhill and cross-country paths. One mountain bike trail starts at Denton Hill State Park. It is 15 miles (24 km) long. This trail goes through Patterson State Park and ends at Cherry Springs State Park. Part of the Susquehannock Trail System also runs along the park's southern edge. This is an 85-mile (137 km) loop hiking trail.
