Devery Vaughn Henderson Jr. (born March 26, 1982) is a former American football player. He was a wide receiver for nine seasons. He played for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL).
Henderson grew up in Louisiana. He played college football for the LSU Tigers. His team won the national championship in 2003. A few months later, the Saints picked him in the 2004 NFL draft. He was part of the Saints team that won Super Bowl XLIV in 2009.

Devery Henderson grew up in Opelousas, Louisiana. He went to Opelousas High School. There, he was a star athlete. He was especially good on the track team. He later attended LSU on both a track and football scholarship.

Football Highlights at LSU
A big moment in his college football career happened on November 9, 2002. Henderson caught a famous deep pass. It was called the "Bluegrass Miracle". This play helped LSU beat the Kentucky Wildcats 33–30. The play was so amazing that it won an ESPY award. This award was for "Best Play" the next year. Henderson accepted the award for the LSU Tigers.
In 2002, Henderson caught 23 passes for 447 yards. He also scored 8 touchdowns. He became known for making long catches. In 2003, he was part of the LSU team that won the BCS National Championship. That year, he caught 53 passes for 861 yards. He scored 11 touchdowns. He was also named to the All-SEC Second-team.
Track Star at LSU
Henderson was also a very fast track athlete at LSU. He was part of LSU's national champion track team. He was on the team that qualified for the NCAA 4 × 100 metres relay. He was also part of LSU's 2001 National Champion Indoor Track and Field team. In his second year, he ran the second-fastest 60-meter race in school history. His time was 6.72 seconds.

Playing for the New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints picked Devery Henderson in the 2004 NFL draft. He was the 50th player chosen overall.
After his first year, the Saints got a new coach, Sean Payton. They also got a new quarterback, Drew Brees. This helped Henderson's game a lot. In the 2006 season, his stats got much better. He caught more passes and gained more yards. He also scored more touchdowns.
On November 5, 2006, Henderson had a great game. He caught 3 passes for 111 yards. He also scored 2 touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Later that month, he had 158 receiving yards. This included a 76-yard touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons. On December 10, 2006, he caught two passes from Drew Brees for 92 yards. One of these was a touchdown. The Saints won against the Dallas Cowboys.
In 2009, Henderson signed a new contract with the Saints. That year, the Saints made it to the Super Bowl. Henderson caught 7 passes for 63 yards. The Saints won Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts.
On October 8, 2012, Henderson caught a touchdown pass from Drew Brees. This pass helped Brees break a record. It was Johnny Unitas's record of 47 straight games with a touchdown pass. The Saints won that game 31–24.
Henderson was known for his long catches. He averaged almost 18 yards per catch in his career. This was one of the highest averages among active receivers at the time. He is still the #6 All-Time career Receiving Yards Leader in Saints Franchise History. He has 4,377 receiving yards.
Time with the Washington Redskins
After the 2012 season, Henderson became a free agent. He signed with the Washington Redskins on June 12, 2013. However, he was released by the team on August 14, 2013.
