Devin Maurice Ebanks was born on October 28, 1989. He is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a forward for Al-Ahli Jeddah in the Saudi Basketball League. The Los Angeles Lakers picked him in the 2010 NBA draft. He was the 43rd player chosen overall. Devin also played college basketball for two years at West Virginia University.

Devin Ebanks' High School Basketball Journey

Devin Ebanks started playing basketball in high school. As a sophomore, he played for Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, New York. He averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

Playing at St. Thomas More School

For his junior year, Devin moved to St. Thomas More School in Connecticut. There, he averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. In his senior year, he continued to shine. He averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. Devin scored over 1,000 points during his two years at St. Thomas More.

High School Honors and Recognition

Devin received many awards and honors while in high school. He was chosen for the Jordan Brand Classic All-Star Game in New York. He also played AAU basketball. Devin was one of 30 players picked for the 2007 USA Basketball Development Festival. This event took place at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During the camp, he averaged 28.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Scouting services thought Devin was one of the best high school players in the country. Rivals.com ranked him 11th overall in his class. Scout.com ranked him 13th overall. Many colleges wanted him to play for them. These included Indiana, Memphis, Rutgers, and Texas. Devin first decided to go to Indiana. However, he was allowed to change his mind after their coach, Kelvin Sampson, left. Devin then chose to play for Bob Huggins at West Virginia University.

Devin Ebanks played college basketball for West Virginia University (WVU). He quickly made an impact on the team.

Freshman Season Highlights (2008-2009)

In his first year, Devin had a great game against Cleveland State. He scored 10 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. He also had 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. In a close game against Davidson, he led his team with 17 rebounds and scored 13 points. He continued to play well, getting "double-doubles" (scoring double digits in two categories like points and rebounds).

Devin had 9 points and 10 rebounds in a win against Radford. He scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds against Ohio State. In a game against Seton Hall, he had 10 points and 9 rebounds. He helped his team win against Marshall with 12 points and 4 rebounds. He also had 5 points and 10 rebounds in a win over USF.

In the semifinals, he set a new career-high with 22 points against Syracuse. He also had 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals in that game. Devin was named to the All-Big East Tournament team. He averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds during the tournament.

West Virginia lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Dayton. Devin scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in that game.

For his first year, Devin averaged 10.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. He had 10 double-doubles that season. He decided to return for his second year at WVU.

Devin Ebanks' Professional Basketball Career

Devin Ebanks decided to enter the 2010 NBA draft. The Los Angeles Lakers picked him as the 43rd player overall. He signed with the Lakers on August 12, 2010.

Early NBA Years (2010-2013)

On December 27, 2010, the Lakers sent Devin to the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA D-League. This was to help him get more playing time. He was called back to the Lakers on January 8, 2011, because another player, Matt Barnes, was injured. In February 2011, Devin broke his leg during practice.

In his second NBA season (2011-2012), Devin became a starting player for the Lakers. He started as the small forward. In his first game as a starter, he scored 8 points. He also had 1 rebound and 2 assists against the Chicago Bulls. He was sent to the Los Angeles D-Fenders (another D-League team) in February 2012. He was called back to the Lakers later that month. In his second season, he averaged 4 points in 16.5 minutes per game. He started 12 of the 24 games he played. On August 13, 2012, Devin signed another one-year deal with the Lakers.

Playing in the NBA D-League and Overseas (2013-2017)

On September 13, 2013, Devin signed with the Dallas Mavericks. However, he was released from the team on October 22. In November 2013, the Texas Legends (an NBA D-League team) picked him up. On February 3, 2014, Devin was chosen for the Prospects All-Star roster for the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star Game. He was later traded to the Springfield Armor on February 20.

In July 2014, he joined the NBA D-League Select Team for the 2014 NBA Summer League. On August 28, 2014, he signed with Bnei Herzliya in Israel. He left the team after only three games due to behavior issues. On November 29, 2014, he signed with Halcones Rojos Veracruz in Mexico. In April 2015, he joined Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rico.

On October 31, 2015, the Grand Rapids Drive (NBA Development League) acquired Devin. On January 18, 2016, Devin scored 43 points in a game. This was a new record for the Drive team. At the end of the season, he was named to the All-NBA D-League Third Team.

On April 5, 2016, Devin signed with the Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico. He scored 18 points in his first game with them. On August 18, 2016, Devin signed with Reales de La Vega in the Dominican Republic. On August 1, 2017, he signed with an Italian club called Mens Sana 1871 Basket.

Recent Career (2020-Present)

On October 10, 2020, the Indios de Mayagüez in Puerto Rico announced they had signed Devin. On January 22, 2021, the Greek club Iraklis Thessaloniki signed him. On August 17, 2021, Devin signed with Manama in the Bahraini Premier League. He helped Manama win their 21st national championship. They also won their 17th Bahraini Cup. Devin scored 34 points in the final game, helping his team win 103–97.
