Diana Viktorovna Vishneva is a famous Russian ballet dancer. She was born on July 13, 1976. She is a main dancer, called a principal dancer, with the Mariinsky Ballet. This ballet company used to be known as the Kirov Ballet.

About Diana Vishneva's Life

Diana Vishneva was born in Leningrad, which is now called Saint Petersburg, in Russia. She is the second of two daughters in her family. Her father, Viktor Vishnev, is Russian. Her mother, Guzal Afletunova, is Tatar. Diana is a Christian and was baptized in an Orthodox church. She married Konstantin Selinevich in 2013. They have a son named Rudolf-Viktor, who was born on May 13, 2018.

Diana Vishneva's Ballet Career

Diana Vishneva trained at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. While she was at the Vaganova school, she earned some of the highest scores ever recorded there. During her last year, she also trained at the Mariinsky Theatre. After graduating in 1995, Vishneva joined the Mariinsky Ballet Company.

Rising to Stardom

Early in her career at the Mariinsky, Diana won two important awards. These were the Benois de la Danse and the Golden Sofit. These awards helped her move up quickly in the company. She became a principal dancer in 1996. This is the highest rank a ballet dancer can achieve.

Vishneva first performed with the American Ballet Theatre in 2003. She officially joined them as a principal dancer in 2005. She danced with the American Ballet Theatre until 2017.
