Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil, born on October 22, 1935, is an important figure in Indian public service. He is known for being a former governor of three different states in India: Bihar, West Bengal, and Tripura. A governor is like a state's chief representative, appointed by the President of India.
Mr. Patil was a leader of the Indian National Congress party from the state of Maharashtra. Later, on December 24, 2018, he joined the Nationalist Congress Party. In 1991, he received the Padma Shri award, which is one of India's highest civilian honors, given for his social work.
Early Life
Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil was born in a village called Ambap. This village is located in what is now the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, India. At the time of his birth, this area was part of the Bombay state under British rule.

Public Service Career
Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil began his public service career in 1957. He was elected to the Kolhapur Municipal Council as a candidate for the Indian National Congress party. He served in this role until 1962.
From 1967 to 1978, he was a member of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha. This is the legislative assembly, or law-making body, for the state of Maharashtra. He was elected from the Panhala constituency in both the 1967 and 1972 elections.
Later, he was appointed as a state governor. He became the Governor of Tripura on November 21, 2009, and officially took office on November 27, 2009. After that, he was appointed the Governor of Bihar on March 9, 2012.
