Dominic Angelo Breazeale (born August 24, 1985) is an American former professional boxer. He is known for his powerful punches. Dominic competed for the heavyweight world title twice. He fought for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title in 2016 and the World Boxing Council (WBC) title in 2019. Before becoming a professional, he represented the United States in boxing at the 2012 London Olympics.

Early Life and Sports
Dominic Breazeale was born in Glendale, California, in the United States. When he was younger, he loved playing American football. He was a quarterback, which is the player who leads the team's offense, for his college teams at Mt. SAC and the University of Northern Colorado. He started boxing later in life.
Amateur Boxing Career
Dominic began boxing when he was 23 years old. Even though he started later than some, he quickly became very good. As an amateur boxer, he won the 2012 U.S. National Super Heavyweight championship. This big win happened in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
After that, he qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He earned a spot on the U.S. Olympic team by winning the Olympic trials. At the Olympics, he faced Russia's Magomed Omarov in the first round. Dominic lost that match, but it was still a huge achievement to compete at the Olympics.
Professional Boxing Journey
Starting as a Pro Boxer
Dominic Breazeale became a professional boxer on November 9, 2012. His first fight was against Curtis Lee Tate, and Dominic won by knockout in the very first round! He had another knockout win later that month. Throughout 2013, he continued to win many of his fights by knockout.
In 2014, Dominic had his first fight that went the full distance, meaning it wasn't a knockout. He won that fight against Nagy Aguilera by a unanimous decision from the judges. This showed he could win even if he didn't knock out his opponent. He continued to win more fights by knockout that year.
Big Fights and Challenges
In 2015, Dominic kept his winning streak going. He won against Victor Bisbal and Yasmany Consuegra by knockout. He also had a close fight against Fred Kassi, which he won by a decision.
Breazeale vs. Mansour
On January 26, 2016, Dominic had a tough fight against Amir Mansour. Dominic was knocked down in the third round, but he showed great courage and kept fighting. Mansour had to stop the fight in the fifth round because of a serious injury to his mouth. Dominic won the fight.
Fighting for a World Title: Joshua vs. Breazeale
In April 2016, Dominic Breazeale got a huge opportunity. He was chosen to fight Anthony Joshua for the IBF heavyweight title. This was Joshua's first time defending his world title. The fight took place in London, England. Dominic fought hard, but Joshua was very strong. The referee stopped the fight in the seventh round after Dominic was knocked down a second time. This was Dominic's first professional loss.
Comeback Fights
After his loss to Joshua, Dominic wanted to get back in the ring quickly. On February 25, 2017, he fought Izu Ugonoh. This fight was very exciting! Both boxers were knocked down, but Dominic eventually won by knockout in the fifth round. This fight was even named "Round of the Year" by Ring Magazine for its action-packed third round.
Later that year, on November 4, 2017, Dominic fought Eric Molina. Dominic won this fight when Molina's corner stopped the fight after the eighth round. Dominic had knocked Molina down in that round.
More Title Challenges
Dominic continued to win, including a knockout victory over Carlos Negrón in December 2018.
Breazeale vs. Wilder
On May 18, 2019, Dominic faced another huge challenge: WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder. This was his second chance to win a world title. However, Wilder is known for his powerful punches. Wilder knocked Dominic out in the first round with a strong right hand. This was Dominic's second professional loss.

In his most recent fight, Dominic Breazeale fought Otto Wallin on February 20, 2021. Wallin won the fight by a decision from the judges after 12 rounds.
