Dominic Angelo Breazeale (born August 24, 1985) is an American former professional boxer. He is known for his powerful punches as a heavyweight fighter. Dominic has fought for world titles two times. He challenged for the IBF title in 2016 and the WBC title in 2019. Before turning professional, he represented the United States as an amateur boxer at the 2012 London Olympics.

Dominic's Early Life and Sports
Dominic Breazeale was born in Glendale, California, United States. Before he started boxing, he was a talented football player. He played as a quarterback for his college teams at Mt. SAC and the University of Northern Colorado.
Amateur Boxing Journey
Dominic started boxing when he was 23 years old. Even though he started later than some, he quickly became very good. As an amateur, he won the 2012 U.S. National Super Heavyweight championship. This big win helped him qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He earned a spot on the US Olympic team. At the Olympics, he lost in his first fight to Magomed Omarov from Russia.
Dominic's Professional Boxing Career
Starting as a Pro Boxer
Dominic Breazeale began his professional boxing career on November 9, 2012. He won his first fight by knocking out Curtis Lee Tate in the very first round! He continued to win many of his early fights by knockout in 2013. On his birthday, August 24, 2013, he knocked out Lenroy Thomas in the fourth round. Dominic kept winning, often by knockout, throughout 2013 and 2014. His fight against Nagy Aguilera was the first time he fought for the full number of rounds and won by decision.
His winning streak continued into 2015. He knocked out Victor Bisbal in the fourth round. Then, he stopped Yasmany Consuegra in the third round. Later that year, he won a close decision against Fred Kassi.
Big Fights and Challenges
Dominic was set to fight Charles Martin, but Martin decided to go for an IBF title fight instead.
Tough Fight Against Amir Mansour
On January 26, 2016, Dominic had a very tough fight against Amir Mansour. Dominic was knocked down in the third round. But he showed great courage and came back strong. Mansour had to stop fighting after the fifth round because he bit through his tongue. Dominic won the fight!
Challenging Anthony Joshua
In April 2016, Dominic Breazeale got a huge chance. He was chosen to fight Anthony Joshua for the IBF heavyweight title. The fight happened on June 25, 2016, in London. Dominic fought hard, but Joshua was too strong. The referee stopped the fight in the seventh round after Dominic was knocked down a second time. This was Dominic's first professional loss.
Exciting Win Against Izu Ugonoh
After his loss to Joshua, Dominic returned to the ring on February 25, 2017. He fought an undefeated boxer named Izu Ugonoh. This fight was very exciting! Ugonoh was knocked down in the third round. Then, Ugonoh came back and knocked Dominic down in the fourth round. But Dominic didn't give up! He knocked Ugonoh out of the ring in the fifth round to win the fight. The third round of this fight was even named "Round of the Year" by Ring Magazine.
Victory Over Eric Molina
On November 4, 2017, Dominic fought Eric Molina. Dominic knocked Molina down in the eighth round. Molina couldn't continue, and Dominic won the fight.
Knockout Win Against Carlos Negron
In his next fight, Dominic faced Carlos Negron. Dominic won this fight by knockout in the ninth round.
World Title Fight Against Deontay Wilder
On May 18, 2019, Dominic Breazeale had another chance at a world title. He fought the powerful WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder. Wilder landed a very strong punch in the first round, and Dominic was knocked out. This was his second professional loss.
Fight Against Otto Wallin
Dominic's next fight was against Otto Wallin. Wallin fought very well and won the fight by a clear decision after all 12 rounds.
