Dudley Do-Right is a funny cartoon character. He was created by Alex Anderson, Chris Hayward, and Allan Burns. Dudley is the main hero of "Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties." This was a part of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. The cartoon made fun of old-fashioned plays and silent movies from the early 1900s. It only used piano music in the background.

Who is Dudley Do-Right?
Dudley Do-Right is a Canadian Mountie. He's a bit silly and not very smart, but he's always trying his best and is very cheerful! His main goal is to catch his enemy, Snidely Whiplash. He also tries to save Nell Fenwick, who is his boss's daughter. Dudley really likes Nell.
Dudley usually only wins by accident or because his horse, named "Horse," helps him. A funny thing in the show is that Nell really loves Horse, but she doesn't seem to care much about Dudley! In the cartoon's opening, you can even see Dudley riding his horse backward.
Dudley Do-Right also appeared in other cartoons. He was in a "Rocky and Bullwinkle Fan Club" part. He played the hero in a play called "She Can't Pay the Rent."
The Dudley Do-Right Show
The Dudley Do-Right Show was an animated TV series. It first aired on American Broadcasting Company (ABC) on Sunday mornings. This was from April 27, 1969, to September 6, 1970. Each show was half an hour long. It had two parts of "Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties." It also had two parts of "The World of Commander McBragg." Plus, it included one part each of "Tooter Turtle" and "The Hunter."
The "Dudley Do-Right" cartoons were made by Jay Ward Productions. The other cartoons were made by Total Television. Both companies used an animation studio in Mexico called Gamma Productions.
There was also a version of The Dudley Do-Right Show that was shown in different places. It was called Dudley Do Right and Friends. This version had "Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties," "The World of Commander McBragg," "The King and Odie," and "The Hunter." "The King and Odie" and "The Hunter" were first seen on another show called King Leonardo and His Short Subjects. Later, new episodes of these shows were made for Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales in 1963. These newer episodes were also part of the Dudley Do Right and Friends package.
Here are some of the actors who did the voices for the characters:
- Bill Scott was the voice of Dudley Do-Right.
- June Foray was the voice of Nell Fenwick.
- Hans Conried was the voice of Snidely Whiplash.
- Paul Frees was the voice of Inspector Fenwick and the Narrator.
- William Conrad also narrated some of the episodes.
Missing Episode
One episode, "Stokey the Bear," was first shown on The Bullwinkle Show. For many years, this episode was not shown again. This was because the U.S. Forest Service didn't like the idea of a bear that started forest fires. Even though Snidely had hypnotized the bear to do it, they still objected. The episode was finally released on home video in 2005.
Dudley Do-Right Film
A live-action movie about Dudley Do-Right came out in 1999. It starred Brendan Fraser as Dudley, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Alfred Molina. The movie didn't get good reviews and didn't make much money at the box office.
Theme Park Ride
Dudley Do-Right also has his own ride at the Islands of Adventure theme park. It's a log flume ride called Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls. When you wait in line, it feels like you're in a theater. Dudley, Nell, Snidely, and Horse are shown as actors.
Riders get into cartoon logs and go "into" the story. In the ride, Snidely has captured Nell Fenwick. Then, Horse and Dudley appear, charging in to save her! The ride has three big drops. The last one is the tallest and steepest, going down seventy-five feet! It's a mix of a log flume and a roller coaster. The ride was designed by Mack GmbH and opened in 1999.
