What the Movie is About
Dudley's Early Life
The story starts with three children and a horse. These kids are young Dudley Do-Right, Nell Fenwick, and Snidely Whiplash. The horse is also there. They talk about what they want to be when they grow up.
Dudley dreams of becoming a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, also known as a Mountie. Nell wants to travel and see the whole world. But Snidely has a different idea. He wants to be the "bad guy" and travel the world causing trouble.
Growing Up and New Challenges
Years later, everyone has achieved their dreams. Dudley is now a Mountie, but he always follows the rules very strictly. Sometimes, he doesn't notice obvious things around him. Snidely has become a famous bank robber.
Snidely and his gang rob a bank. He then tricks his gang into thinking he ran off with all the gold. They go on a wild chase looking for him. Snidely then hides the stolen gold in the lakes. Dudley almost catches him, but Snidely tricks him again.
Nell Returns and a Gold Rush Begins
Soon after, Nell comes back from her trip around the world. She meets Dudley again. They go to a festival with the local Kumquat tribe.
Meanwhile, a poor prospector named Kim J. Darling (Eric Idle) finds gold in the river. Snidely uses this to become famous. A "gold rush" starts, and many people come looking for gold. Snidely quickly takes over the town. He even renames it "Whiplash City."
Dudley's Fight Against Snidely
Snidely's old gang returns from their wild goose chase. They want to get even with him for tricking them. But Snidely convinces them to join him by offering them a fancy life in his new town. Dudley suspects Snidely is up to no good and confronts him. Snidely just laughs and takes Nell away.
Snidely sends his helper, Homer, to get rid of Dudley with a bomb. But Dudley is not there when the bomb explodes. Nell's father, Inspector Fenwick, is friends with Snidely. He finds out about Dudley's problems with Snidely. So, he removes Dudley from the Mounties.
Dudley's Training and Comeback
Dudley feels very sad and wanders around town. He meets Kim, the prospector, who is now rich. Kim offers Dudley a place to stay in his cave. Kim tells Dudley about Snidely's plans and how popular he has become. He takes Dudley to a big party Snidely is hosting. Dudley tries to get Nell back, but he fails.
Kim feels bad for Dudley. He decides to train Dudley very hard to make him stronger. Dudley's first step is to scare one of Snidely's men. He finds out about the next gold shipment. Dudley messes up the shipment and leaves his mark on Snidely's property.
The Final Showdown
Snidely is angry that Dudley is causing trouble. He doesn't know Dudley lost his job. Kim eventually leaves to find his family. Dudley then uses his new skills to win Nell back from Snidely. Snidely promises to get revenge.
At a town meeting, Snidely tries to turn people against Dudley. But the townspeople are tired of Snidely. They respect Dudley more for trying to take back their town. Snidely finds out Dudley and Nell are at another festival. He leads a big attack on them.
The Kumquats run away. Then, Horse reappears and helps Dudley. They trick Snidely and Homer into shooting each other. A group of Mounties arrives and arrests Snidely and his men. Kim also shows up with his wife, who is the Prime Minister of Canada. They reveal they called the Mounties. Inspector Fenwick puts Dudley back in the Mounties.
The movie ends with Dudley and Nell living happily in Dudley's rebuilt house. They share a kiss.

Even though different movie studios made these films, the ads for Dudley Do-Right joked about this. They said things like: "From the creator of George of the Jungle…and the star of George of the Jungle…and the acclaimed director who saw George of the Jungle…"
Watching at Home
