Dulacca is a small town in the countryside of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Western Downs Region. In 2021, about 131 people lived in Dulacca.

Where is Dulacca?

Dulacca is located in an area called the Darling Downs. It is about 380 kilometers (236 miles) northwest of Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland.

The Warrego Highway runs right through Dulacca. This important road goes from east to west. The Western railway line also passes through the town. Dulacca has its own railway station.

Dulacca Creek flows through the area. It eventually joins the Balonne River.

The name Dulacca might come from an Aboriginal word, doolucah. This word means emu nest.

Early Buildings and Services

Dulacca Post Office opened a long time ago, on March 3, 1879. This helped people send and receive mail.

Dulacca State School welcomed its first students on March 1, 1909.

The Dulacca Presbyterian Church was built in 1910. It was made from local cypress pine wood. Later, the church building was moved to the Miles Historical Village. This museum helps show how people lived in the past.

North Dulacca Hall opened in 1913. It was a community building where people could gather. The hall is now closed, but the building is still there.

Schools in the Past

Over the years, a few other schools opened and closed around Dulacca.

Rainville State School opened in 1912. It closed and reopened a few times before closing for good in 1946.

Dulacca North State School opened in 1919. It also closed and reopened before closing permanently in 1953. These schools often closed when there were not enough students.
