Roads and Railways
East End is easy to reach because the main Bruce Highway passes right through it. This highway comes from the south-east, near a place called West Stowe. It then continues north, heading towards Mount Larcom. You can also find the East End railway station here. This station is part of the Blackwater railway system, which is used for trains.
A Glimpse into East End's Past
Early Days and Names
The area was first known as Wilmott. It was named after a person called Wilmott. He was a 'squatter', which means he settled on land without officially owning it. In 1855, Wilmott brought two groups of sheep to this area. One group stayed near a lagoon, which is a small lake. Today, this lagoon is still called Wilmot Lagoon.
The Story of East End School
A school called Willmott State School first opened its doors on April 26, 1915. Later, in 1936, its name was changed to East End State School. The school taught students for many years before it closed down in 1963.
