Easton is a small community in Kittitas County, Washington. It is a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is a place identified by the United States Census Bureau for statistics. In 2020, about 407 people lived there. Easton is well-known as the start and finish line for the Cascade Crest 100-mile ultra-running race. This is a very long and challenging running event.

A Look Back in Time: Easton's History
Easton was officially planned out in 1902. The Northern Pacific Railway gave the community its name. It was called Easton because it was near the east end of the Stampede Tunnel. This tunnel goes through the Cascade Range mountains.

Easton is located in the western part of Kittitas County. It sits in the beautiful Yakima River valley. Interstate 90 is a major highway that runs through Easton. You can get to Easton from Exits 70 and 71.
If you drive northwest on I-90, you will go over Snoqualmie Pass. About 70 miles away is the city of Seattle. If you drive southeast, you will reach Ellensburg. This city is about 37 miles away and is the county seat of Kittitas.
Easton covers a total area of about 8.3 square kilometers (3.2 square miles). A small part of this area, about 0.04 square kilometers, is water. Lake Easton is a reservoir located at the west end of the community. It is where the Yakima and Kachess rivers meet. Lake Easton State Park is also found here, offering outdoor fun.
