Ebba Busch (born 11 February 1987) is a Swedish politician. She has been the Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden since October 2022. She also serves as the Minister for Energy and the Minister for Business and Industry.
Ebba Busch has been the leader of the Christian Democrats political party since April 2015.

Early Life and Education
Ebba Busch was born in Uppsala, Sweden, on 11 February 1987. Her mother is Swedish and her father is Norwegian. She feels connected to both countries.
She grew up in Gunsta, a place near Uppsala. She went to a Christian primary school called Word of Life. Later, she studied at Katedralskolan in Uppsala. She also studied peace and conflict at Uppsala University.
Political Journey
Ebba Busch started her political career in the Uppsala Municipality. She worked for the Christian Democrats. In 2009, when she was just 22, she took on budget duties. She became a substitute municipal councillor.
Before the 2010 local election in Uppsala, the party wanted her to be third on the ballot. But a vote within the party changed this. Ebba Busch won the top spot on the ballot. She received many more votes than the other candidate.
She was also the vice chairman of the Christian Democrat youth group until June 2011.
Becoming Party Leader
In 2015, Ebba Busch was chosen to be the new leader of the Christian Democrats. She officially became the leader on 25 April. When she first became leader, her party's support in polls was low.
She tried to make the party stronger by focusing on issues like immigration and law and order. Later, she returned to traditional Christian Democratic topics. These included healthcare and family policies.
In May 2018, her party's support was very low. But during the election campaign, things changed. Ebba Busch was very good in political debates. Many people believe her strong performance helped the party.
The Christian Democrats had their best election results in 12 years. They passed the 4% mark needed to be in parliament. In March 2019, Ebba Busch said her party was ready to work with the Sweden Democrats. This was a new step for her party.
Political Ideas
Views on Immigration
Ebba Busch has spoken about immigration to Sweden. In 2016, she said that people seeking asylum who commit certain acts should be sent away.
In 2018, she said that immigration had caused a "crisis regarding values" in Sweden. She also spoke against multiculturalism.
In 2019, she wrote an article with another party member. They said Sweden should accept fewer asylum seekers. They believed this would make Sweden's immigration levels similar to other Nordic countries.
Foreign Policy Views
Ebba Busch supports free trade. She also supports cooperation within the European Union (EU). However, she believes the EU should not have too much power over national matters. She is against giving the EU the power to tax.
She does not think Turkey should join the EU.
Ebba Busch has also talked about the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. She believes Sweden's embassy in Israel should move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. She supported the decision by the United States to move its embassy there in 2017.
Minister and Deputy Prime Minister
Since 18 October 2022, Ebba Busch has held important roles in the Swedish government. She is the Minister for Energy. She is also the Minister for Business and Industry.
Additionally, she serves as the Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden in the government led by Ulf Kristersson.
In October 2022, Ebba Busch and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced a large payment to help people with high electricity bills. This money was given to areas in southern Sweden.
In September 2024, the government announced support for towns that build new wind farms. Busch also said money would be used to find ways to store energy.
Personal Life
In 2013, Ebba Busch married IK Sirius football player Niklas Thor. They had two children: a son named Birger, born in May 2015, and a daughter named Elise, born in February 2017.
In December 2019, Ebba Busch announced that she and her husband were getting a divorce.
Ebba Busch is a member of the Church of Sweden.
