Elimbah is found north of the larger town of Caboolture. It is also south of Beerburrum.

Getting Around Elimbah

The main road, the Bruce Highway, goes right through Elimbah from south to north. Another road, Beerburrum Road, also runs through the area. Glass House Mountains Road (also known as Steve Irwin Way) passes through the north-east part of Elimbah.

The North Coast railway line also runs through the town. It goes in the same direction as the highway. Elimbah has its own train station, called Elimbah railway station.

Elimbah's Past: A Look at History

The original people of Elimbah were the Kabi people. They called this area the "place of the grey water snake."

How Elimbah Got Its Name

The town was first a campsite known as The Six Mile. It was a place where horses and bullocks could rest. In 1890, when the North Coast railway line was built, it was called "36miles 68chains." On September 20, 1902, local people asked for a proper name. That's when it was officially named Elimbah.

Schools and Halls in Elimbah's History

Elimbah State School first opened its doors on November 3, 1915. It was officially opened on Australia Day in 1916.

People started raising money for Elimbah Hall in 1915. It was dedicated to soldiers who returned from war on ANZAC Day, April 25, 1922.

Twin View State School opened on January 4, 1921. It closed in October 1924. The school building was then moved to Wamuran. It became the new building for Wamuran State School.

Churches in Elimbah

The Methodist Church bought land in Elimbah in 1913. A church was built in 1953, and the Elimbah Methodist Church opened in 1954. In 1977, the Methodist Church joined with others to form the Uniting Church in Australia. So, it became Elimbah Uniting Church.

Today, Elimbah is a rural town. It is known for its farming. People here raise livestock and grow strawberries.
