Journey of Elzevir Creek
Elzevir Creek starts its journey from a lake that doesn't have a specific name. This starting point is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) west of a community called Flinton. Here, the creek begins at an elevation of about 257 meters (843 feet) above sea level.
Flowing Through Elzevir Lake
From its source, the creek flows towards the southeast. It then enters Elzevir Lake, which is a notable point along its path. After leaving Elzevir Lake, the creek takes a winding and twisting route.
Reaching the Skootamatta River
The creek continues its journey until it reaches its end, which is called its "mouth." The mouth of Elzevir Creek is where it joins the Skootamatta River. This meeting point is just north of Highway 7, near the community of Actinolite. At this spot, the elevation is about 174 meters (571 feet) above sea level.
Part of a Larger Water System
The Skootamatta River, which Elzevir Creek flows into, then continues its own journey. It flows into the Moira River. Finally, the Moira River empties into the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario at a city called Belleville. This shows how Elzevir Creek is connected to a much larger system of rivers and lakes that eventually reach one of the Great Lakes.
