Eureka Township was officially started in 1858. The name "Eureka" comes from an old Greek word. It means "I have found it!"

Within Eureka Township, there is a small place called Eureka Center. This is an unincorporated community, which means it's not a separate city or town with its own government. It's where the Town Hall for Eureka Township is located. Eureka Center is right in the middle of the township.

- Dakota County Road 23 goes through Eureka Center, running north and south.
