Club History: How FC Pinzgau Saalfelden Started
FC Pinzgau Saalfelden was created on May 23, 2007. It was formed when two local football clubs joined together. These clubs were 1. Saalfeldner SK (started in 1947) and ESV Saalfelden (started in 1952). Before the full merger, these two clubs had already worked together as SG Saalfelden from 2004 to 2007.
In December 2019, a company called Fan Owned Club, Inc. took over the team. This company allowed fans to buy shares in the club. Buying shares gave fans special access to the team and how it was run. After this, the team became a place for young players to develop their skills. Several Major League Soccer teams would send their young players to FC Pinzgau Saalfelden for short periods. This helped the young players get more experience.
However, in December 2024, Fan Owned Club closed down. This happened because of money problems.
