Fabian Kauter (born September 22, 1985) is a talented fencer from Switzerland. He uses the épée, which is one of the three types of swords used in fencing. Fabian is right-handed and has competed in the Olympic Games twice.
He represented Switzerland at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He also competed in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
Fabian has won several bronze medals at the World Fencing Championships. These include individual and team medals in 2011, an individual medal in 2013, and team medals in 2014 and 2015. He also earned a bronze medal at the 2007 European Fencing Championships.
Between 2011 and 2015, Fabian won two major fencing titles called the FIE Men's Épée Grand Prix. He also won a FIE Men's Épée World Cup title between 2011 and 2014.
Fabian's Life and Fencing Journey
Fabian Kauter was born in Bern, Switzerland. When he was younger, his first sport was football. However, he had some injuries that made him try something new.
He started fencing when he was ten years old. Fencing runs in his family! His father, Christian Kauter, is a famous fencer who won two Olympic medals. Fabian's brother, Michael Kauter, also used to be an Olympic fencer. Both his father and brother competed in the épée event, just like Fabian.
Beyond Fencing: Music and Helping Others
Fabian Kauter is not just a fencer; he is also a musician! He uses the artist name YuRi. In 2009, he released his first music album called Summer in Sibirie. Later, in 2012, he released another album titled Kopf über Wasser.
In 2013, Fabian helped start something special called "I believe in you." This is a crowdfunding platform in Switzerland. It helps athletes get money to support their sports projects and dreams.
