Farr West is a city located in Weber County, Utah. It is found on the northern edge of the county. In 2020, about 7,691 people lived there. This was an increase from 5,928 people in 2010. Farr West is part of the larger Ogden–Clearfield metropolitan area. As of 2022, Ken Phippen is the mayor of the city.
Geography of Farr West
Farr West covers about 5.8 square miles (15.1 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.
It shares borders with other towns. To the west is Plain City. To the north is Willard. Pleasant View is to the northeast. Harrisville is to the east. Finally, Marriott-Slaterville is to the south.
History of Farr West
The city got its name from two important people: Lorin Farr and Chauncey W. West. Chauncey W. West was related to Abraham Hoagland. The name also reminds people of "Far West", which was an early settlement for Mormons in Missouri.
Farr West became an official city in 1981. Joseph Taylor was important in settling the area in 1858. Jimmie Papageorge used to be the mayor of the city.
In 2014, Wahlquist Junior High School was rebuilt. It moved to a new spot within Farr West. A new elementary school, Silver Ridge Elementary, was built in the northern part of Farr West in 2020.
