Feenagh (Irish: Fíodhnach, meaning wooded place) is a small village in west County Limerick, Ireland. It is located about ten miles from Newcastle West and six miles from Dromcolliher. The name "Feenagh" comes from the Irish word "Fíodhnach," which means "wooded place."

Village Life and History

Feenagh has a modern national school that was built in 1970. This school is very proud to have seven An Taisce green flags. These flags show how well the school cares for the environment. The Carnegie Library was built in 1917. The old national school, which was built in 1847, is now used as a community centre for everyone.

The creamery, a place where milk was processed, was built in the 1890s. Today, it is used as a garage. There are also two special "holy wells" in the area around Feenagh. A new group of houses was built where the village forge once stood. The village started as a settlement in Cloncrew. Feenagh and Kilmeedy became one parish in 1851. The church in Feenagh was built in the 18th century and was rebuilt in the 1870s. A beautiful stained glass window at the altar of the church was given in memory of Hanora Irwin-Mc Mahon. It was donated by David Mc Mahon, who was from Broadford.
