Finn Wolfhard (born December 23, 2002) is a talented Canadian actor and musician. He became famous for his role as Mike Wheeler in the popular Netflix show Stranger Things, which started in 2016.
He also played Richie Tozier in the scary movie It (2017) and its follow-up It Chapter Two (2019). You might also know him as Trevor Spengler in the fun supernatural films Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024).
Besides acting, Finn has directed a short comedy film called Night Shifts (2020) and a full-length movie, Hell of a Summer (2023). He was the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band Calpurnia. Since 2020, he has been a member of another band called The Aubreys.

Early Life and Family
Finn Wolfhard was born on December 23, 2002, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His family has roots from France, Germany, and Jewish heritage. He went to a Catholic school.
Finn's father, Eric Wolfhard, works as a researcher. He studies land claims by Indigenous people. Finn also has an older brother, Nick Wolfhard, who is an actor too.
Finn's Acting Journey
Finn's first acting job was in a music video in 2012. In 2014, he appeared on TV for the first time in the show The 100. The next year, he was in an episode of Supernatural.
Becoming Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things
In 2016, Finn started playing Mike Wheeler in the Netflix series Stranger Things. He sent in a video audition after seeing an open call for the role. Finn and his co-stars won a SAG Award for their amazing performance in the show.
In 2017, Finn and his Stranger Things friends, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin, had a fun competition on the TV show Lip Sync Battle.
Big Roles in Movies
In 2017, Finn also made his first big movie appearance as Richie Tozier in the film It. This movie was based on a book by Stephen King. It was a coincidence that both Stranger Things and It were set in the 1980s.
Finn had been chosen for the role of Richie earlier, but the director changed. He then got the role in Stranger Things. When a new director came on board for It, Finn had to audition again for Richie.
In 2018, Finn played a kind pizza delivery boy named Tyler in the comedy movie Dog Days.
Voice Acting and More Films
In 2019, Finn joined the Netflix animated series Carmen Sandiego. He voiced "Player," who is Carmen Sandiego's main helper and friend. He also appeared in a fashion campaign for Saint Laurent.
Finn played a younger Richie again in It Chapter Two (2019). He also co-starred in The Goldfinch (2019). In this movie, he played Young Boris Pavlikovsky, a Ukrainian student. Finn even provided the voice of Pugsley Addams in an animated movie called The Addams Family.
From 2017 to 2019, Variety magazine listed him as one of Hollywood's influential young stars. The Hollywood Reporter also named him one of the top 30 stars under 18 in 2018 and 2019.
Recent Projects and Directing
In 2020, Finn starred in the scary movie The Turning. He also lent his voice to animated shows like Smiling Friends and JJ Villard's Fairy Tales.
At 17, Finn directed his first short film, Night Shifts. He later shared it on YouTube. He also voiced a character named Ziggy Katz in an audio story called When You Finish Saving the World (2020). This story was later made into a movie in 2022, where Finn starred with Julianne Moore.
In 2021, Finn co-starred with Carrie Coon in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. He played her son, Trevor Spengler. He also joined the voice cast for Guillermo del Toro's stop-motion animated movie Pinocchio (2022).
In 2023, Finn and his friend Billy Bryk released their movie Hell of a Summer. They co-directed, co-wrote, and co-starred in it. The film was shown at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
Music Career
Finn was the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the rock band Calpurnia. The band broke up in November 2019.
A few weeks later, Finn announced his new band, The Aubreys. He formed it with Calpurnia's drummer, Malcolm Craig. The Aubreys' first songs were featured in Finn's movie, The Turning.
The Aubreys released their first song, "Loved One," in March 2020. Their first collection of songs, called an EP, Soda & Pie, came out soon after. They released their first full album, Karaoke Alone, in November 2021.
Helping Others
Finn Wolfhard cares about helping others. He has supported causes for autism and Indigenous children.
In May 2017, Finn hosted a concert called "Strange 80s." This event raised money for Sweet Relief, an organization that helps musicians who need medical care. Finn also performed with his band Calpurnia at the concert. He received an award for his work with Sweet Relief.
