Finspång Municipality is known for having many lakes. People in the municipality say it has more lakes than any other place in Sweden! There are at least 170 lakes that have names. They even say you could swim in a different lake every day of the year because there are 366 of them!
History of Industry
Finspång has a long history as a place for industry. The first factories started here in 1580. They made things like cannons and cannon balls for the king.
This industry was run by the Dutch-Swedish family De Geer for 300 years. A famous member of this family, Louis de Geer, built the beautiful Finspång Castle. Around the castle, more factories and a special greenhouse for plants (called an orangery) grew. This is how the town of Finspång developed.
Today, the main industries in Finspång are making turbines (which are like big engines) and processing aluminum.
