Fire Emblem facts for kids
Fire Emblem is a series of exciting video games made by a company called Intelligent Systems. Nintendo started releasing these games in 1990 for the NES. At first, the first six games were only available in Japan. But then, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword became the first game released in North America and Europe.
These games are a mix of strategy and role-playing. You control many characters on a long journey. Your goal is to fight a common enemy and complete your mission.

How to Play Fire Emblem
In Fire Emblem, you move your characters, called units, across a special map that looks like a grid. You take turns moving your units. Each part of the story gives you a new challenge. For example, you might need to defeat all enemy units.
During your turn, you can choose to make a unit fight, move, heal other units, or visit shops. When two units fight, they use their chosen weapon. Some weapons are stronger against others. For instance, swords are usually better against axes.
When your units defeat enemies, they gain experience. This experience helps them "level up" and become much stronger. A unique thing about Fire Emblem is that if a character takes too much damage and loses all their "hit points," they are gone forever from the game. You can't use them again!
Where Fire Emblem Games Take Place
Each Fire Emblem game mostly happens on a fictional continent. A continent is a very large land area. Some of these continents are used in more than one game. So far, six different continents have been featured in the Fire Emblem series.
Continent | Game |
---|---|
Akaneia | Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi - Monshō no Nazo |
Barensia | Gaiden |
Jugdral | Seisen no Keifu - Tharacia 776 |
Elibe | Fūin no Tsurugi - Blazing Sword |
Magvel | Sacred Stones |
Tellius | Path of Radiance - Radiant Dawn |
