About Francisco Luque
Francisco Luque was born in 1948. In the early 1970s, he began studying art. He went to the School of Applied Arts in Cordoba, Spain. Even though he studied art, he mostly taught himself. He spent his time both teaching and creating art.
He started showing his art in group exhibitions. These shows were in the regions of Cordoba and Jaén. In 1992, he joined a special group. This group helped him learn new art techniques.
Luque has shown his art in many places. His work is in important art galleries and museums. You can find his sculptures in Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, A Coruña, Murcia, Pamplona, and Cordoba. His art is often seen in both solo and group shows.
Luque's Art Style
Francisco Luque's sculptures often show a special idea of human beauty. He uses shapes to create unique forms. He thinks about how volume and space work together.
His sculptures of Venus (a goddess of beauty) are very lively. You might notice that some parts of his figures are not in perfect proportion. They have strong, full shapes. But Luque gives them a warm and gentle feeling.
Art critics say his style is new and fresh. It is different from older, classic art. Luque was inspired by the artist Peter Paul Rubens. Rubens was known for his paintings of full-figured people. Luque's sculptures of women show a lot of feeling and warmth.
His figures are not always like the usual idea of beauty. This makes his art similar to Fernando Botero's work. Botero is another artist known for his rounded figures. Luque's sculptures have smooth curves. They capture the spirit of women, which is a main theme in his art.
