Franklin Nathaniel Jonas, born on September 28, 2000, is an American singer and actor. He is known for voicing Sōsuke in the English version of the 2008 movie Ponyo. Franklin also appeared often in the Disney Channel TV show Jonas. He had a small part in the Disney Channel movie Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. Franklin also appeared on the E! reality show Married to Jonas, which showed the life of his brother Kevin Jonas and his wife. In 2009, he won an award at the Teen Choice Awards for being a new TV star. In 2023, he started his music career as a singer and songwriter. He has released two songs and one extended play.

Early Life and Education

Franklin Nathaniel Jonas was born on September 28, 2000. His birthplace was Ridgewood, New Jersey. He is the youngest son of Denise and Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. He has three older brothers who are part of the pop group Jonas Brothers. These brothers are Kevin Jonas (born 1987), Joe Jonas (born 1989), and Nick Jonas (born 1992). Franklin spent most of his teenage years living in Southlake, Texas. His brothers bought a home there, and he went to Carroll Senior High School.
In 2019, Franklin graduated from the Blackbird Academy in Nashville. He earned a certificate in audio engineering. After that, he moved to Los Angeles to begin his work as a studio engineer. In November 2020, he started taking classes at Columbia University. He is currently studying astrophysics and writing there.
Career Highlights
In 2009, Franklin Jonas lent his voice to the Hayao Miyazaki animated film Ponyo. The movie was released in American theaters on August 14, 2009. He played the character Sōsuke. Sōsuke becomes friends with a young fish named Ponyo, voiced by Noah Cyrus. Ponyo wishes to become a human girl. Both Franklin and Noah sang the main theme song for the film.
He was a regular character in the Disney Channel Original Series Jonas. For this role, he won the "Choice Breakout TV Star Male" award at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. His first on-screen movie role was in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. He appeared alongside the Jonas Brothers as Junior Rocker Trevor. He also appeared in the E! reality show Married to Jonas. This show followed Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle in their married life. It also showed the return of the Jonas Brothers in late 2013.
In June 2017, Franklin posted his first song on SoundCloud called "Shanghai Noon". Less than a year later, he uploaded "Appa" on the same platform. In January 2019, he helped produce Alli Haber's song "Too Young".
As of July 2022, Franklin had 1.9 million followers on TikTok. On March 31, 2021, it was announced that Franklin had signed with UTA. This is the same agency that represents his three older brothers.
He has been co-hosting ABC's Claim to Fame show. He hosts it with his brother Kevin Jonas. The show started on July 11, 2022.
In February 2023, Franklin released his first song. He followed up with his second song release on April 26, 2023. Franklin performed live for the first time at Stagecoach Festival on April 29, 2023.
He released his first extended play on June 21, 2023. This EP included his earlier songs and three new ones.
Personal Life
Franklin Jonas is a student at Columbia University. He is taking astrophysics and academic writing classes.
He does not like being called the "Bonus Jonas." His older brothers promised to stop using that nickname. Franklin told them he found it "hurtful."
