Franklin Nathaniel Jonas (born September 28, 2000) is an American singer and actor. He is the youngest brother of the famous Jonas Brothers (Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas). Franklin is known for voicing Sōsuke in the English version of the animated film Ponyo (2008). He also appeared in the Disney Channel TV show Jonas and the movie Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. In 2009, he won an award at the Teen Choice Awards for his role in Jonas. More recently, in 2023, Franklin started his own music career, releasing songs and an extended play called Sewer Rat.

Early Life and Family
Growing Up with the Jonas Brothers
Franklin Nathaniel Jonas was born on September 28, 2000, in Ridgewood, New Jersey. His parents are Denise and Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. He has three older brothers: Kevin (born 1987), Joe (born 1989), and Nick (born 1992). Because he is the youngest, some people used to call him the "Bonus Jonas." Franklin has a mixed family background, including Italian, German, Cherokee, English, Irish, Scottish, and French-Canadian roots. He spent much of his teenage years in Westlake, Texas.
Franklin's Education Journey
In 2019, Franklin graduated from the Blackbird Academy in Nashville. He earned a certificate in audio engineering, which is about recording and mixing sound. After that, he moved to Los Angeles to work as a studio engineer. In November 2020, he began studying at Columbia University. He is currently taking classes in astrophysics (the study of space) and writing.
Career Highlights
Voice Acting and Disney Roles
In 2009, Franklin Jonas lent his voice to the character Sōsuke in the animated film Ponyo. This movie was created by the famous Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. Sōsuke becomes friends with a young fish named Ponyo, who wishes to become a human girl. Franklin also sang the theme song for the film with Noah Cyrus.
He was a regular character named Frankie Lucas in the Disney Channel show Jonas from 2009 to 2010. For this role, he won the "Choice Breakout TV Star Male" award at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. Franklin also appeared in the movie Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam alongside his brothers.
Reality TV and Hosting
Franklin also appeared in the E! reality show Married to Jonas. This show followed the life of his brother Kevin Jonas and Kevin's wife, Danielle. The show also covered the Jonas Brothers' return to music in 2013.
Since July 11, 2022, Franklin has been co-hosting the ABC show Claim to Fame with his brother Kevin Jonas. On this show, contestants try to guess which celebrities the other contestants are related to.
Music and Social Media
Franklin Jonas has also explored his own music career. In June 2017, he released his first song, "Shanghai Noon," on SoundCloud. He later released another song called "Appa." In January 2019, he helped produce a song for another artist, Alli Haber.
By July 2022, Franklin had gained a large following on TikTok, with 1.9 million followers. This shows his popularity on social media. In March 2021, it was announced that he signed with UTA, which is the same agency that represents his older brothers.
In 2023, Franklin released his second single, "Hoboken," on April 26. He made his first live music performance at the Stagecoach Festival on April 29, 2023. He then released his first extended play (a collection of songs) called Sewer Rat on June 21, 2023.
Personal Life
Franklin Jonas is currently a student at Columbia University. He is studying astrophysics and academic writing. He has mentioned that he dislikes being called the "Bonus Jonas." His older brothers have promised to stop using this nickname because he found it hurtful.
