Joseph Adam Jonas (born August 15, 1989) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He became famous as a member of the pop rock band the Jonas Brothers. He was in the band with his brothers Kevin and Nick.
The Jonas Brothers released their first album, It's About Time, in 2006. They later signed with Hollywood Records. Their second album, Jonas Brothers, came out in 2007. This album made them very popular. The band became well-known on the Disney Channel. They starred in the musical movies Camp Rock (2008) and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010). They also had their own TV shows, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008–2010) and Jonas (2009–2010).
Their third album, A Little Bit Longer (2008), was also very successful. The song "Burnin' Up" was a big hit. After a break from the Jonas Brothers, Joe released his first solo album, Fastlife, in 2011. In 2015, Joe formed a new band called DNCE. He was the lead singer. Their first song, "Cake by the Ocean", became a huge hit.

Early Life
Joseph Adam Jonas was born on August 15, 1989, in Casa Grande, Arizona. His parents are Denise and Paul Kevin Jonas. His father is a songwriter and musician. His mother used to teach sign language and sing. Joe has an older brother, Kevin. He also has two younger brothers, Nick and Frankie.
He went to Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, New Jersey. In 2002, Joe appeared in a Broadway show called La bohème.
Career Highlights
Becoming Famous with Jonas Brothers (2005–2007)

In 2005, Joe, Kevin, and Nick recorded their first song, "Please Be Mine." A record company president liked it and signed them as a group. They decided to call themselves the Jonas Brothers. In 2005, the band toured with artists like Kelly Clarkson and the Backstreet Boys. Their first song, "Mandy", came out in December 2005.
Their first album, It's About Time, was released on August 8, 2006. The record company did not promote it much. The band then left that company. Soon after, they signed with Hollywood Records.
The Jonas Brothers became even more popular. They released their second album, Jonas Brothers, on August 7, 2007. This album sold over two million copies in the U.S. Joe and his brothers also acted in a Disney Channel show called Hannah Montana. They performed the song "We Got the Party" with Miley Cyrus. Their song "S.O.S" became a top 20 hit.
Acting and More Music (2008–2010)
In May 2008, Joe and the band started their own documentary series. It was called Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream. Joe made his first movie appearance with his brothers in the Disney Channel film Camp Rock (2008). The movie's soundtrack was very popular. Joe sang a duet called "This Is Me" for the film. This song reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Jonas Brothers' third album, A Little Bit Longer, came out on August 12, 2008. It was their first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album sold over two million copies. The song "Burnin' Up" was their first top five hit. Joe and his brothers also starred in a 3D concert movie. It was called Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience (2009).
Joe and his brothers starred in their second Disney Channel series, Jonas. It first aired on May 2, 2009. The band released their fourth album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, on June 16, 2009. It also debuted at number one. Joe was a guest judge on American Idol in 2010. He also appeared in a music video for Vampire Weekend. Joe starred in the movie sequel Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.
Solo Album and Band Breakup (2011–2014)
In 2011, Joe announced he would record a solo album. He wanted to add funk music to it. His first song, "See No More", came out on June 3, 2011. It did not become a big hit. Joe joined Britney Spears on her European tour in October 2011. His second song, "Just in Love", was released in September 2011.
Joe's solo album, Fastlife, was released on October 11, 2011. It sold 18,000 copies in its first week. By 2015, it had sold about 45,000 copies. In May 2012, Joe and the Jonas Brothers left Hollywood Records.
In April 2013, the Jonas Brothers decided to get back together. They planned to make a new album and go on tour. Joe also appeared on a dating TV show called The Choice. The brothers performed in Russia in September 2012. Their reunion concert was on October 11, 2012, in New York City. The band planned to release their fifth album, V. It included the songs "Pom Poms" and "First Time". But on October 9, 2013, the band canceled their tour. They said they had "creative differences." A few days later, it was confirmed that the band had officially broken up.
DNCE and The Voice (2015–2018)
After the Jonas Brothers broke up, Joe started a new music project. He decided to form a new band with his friends. These friends were Jack Lawless and JinJoo Lee. Cole Whittle joined as the fourth member. They named the band DNCE, which is a different spelling of "dance."
DNCE released their first song, "Cake by the Ocean", in 2015. Their first album, DNCE, came out in October 2015. It reached number nine on the Billboard 200 chart.
In 2018, Joe became a coach on the Australian version of The Voice. He had been a mentor on the American version a year before. In June 2018, Joe released a song called "I See Love" with DJ Jonas Blue. This song was for the movie Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Joe also voiced a Kraken in the movie.
Jonas Brothers and DNCE Reunions (2019–2023)
In early 2019, rumors started that the Jonas Brothers would get back together. On February 28, 2019, they officially announced their return. They released a new song, "Sucker", the next day. In April 2019, Joe Jonas appeared at WE Day California.
In January 2021, Joe was announced as part of the cast for the movie Devotion. This movie is about the Korean War. Filming took place in Georgia and South Carolina. Joe said joining the cast was a "life changing" experience. In September 2022, he co-wrote a song for the movie's credits. It was called "Not Alone."
In February 2022, Joe announced that DNCE was also returning. He was joined by Lawless and Lee. They released a new song with Norwegian DJ Kygo, called "Dancing Feet". The Jonas Brothers released their sixth album, The Album, in May 2023.
New Solo Music (2024)
On July 17, 2024, Joe Jonas announced his second solo album. It is called Music for People Who Believe in Love. The first song from the album, "Work It Out", came out on July 19, 2024. The second song, "What This Could Be", was released on October 4.
Personal Life
Joe Jonas has dated Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato. He started dating English actress Sophie Turner in 2016. They got engaged in October 2017. They married on May 1, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had a second wedding in Paris, France, on June 29, 2019. The couple has two daughters. Joe filed for divorce from Sophie in September 2023. The divorce was finalized in September 2024.
In September 2021, Joe and Sophie bought a house in Miami, Florida. They sold their previous house in Encino, California, for $15.2 million.
