Joseph Adam Jonas, born on August 15, 1989, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He became famous as a member of the pop rock band the Jonas Brothers. He was in the band with his brothers Kevin and Nick. The group released their first album, It's About Time, in 2006.
After signing with Hollywood Records, the Jonas Brothers released their second album in 2007. This album made them very popular. They became well-known on the Disney Channel. They starred in the musical movies Camp Rock (2008) and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010). They also had their own TV shows, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008–2010) and Jonas (2009–2010).
The band's third album, A Little Bit Longer (2008), was also very successful. Their song "Burnin' Up" reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After a break from the Jonas Brothers, Joe released his first solo album, Fastlife, in 2011. In 2015, Joe formed a new band called DNCE. Their first song, "Cake by the Ocean", was a big hit. It reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Early Life and Beginnings
Joseph Adam Jonas was born on August 15, 1989, in Casa Grande, Arizona. His parents are Denise and Paul Kevin Jonas. His father is a songwriter and musician. His mother was a sign language teacher and singer. Joe has an older brother, Kevin, and two younger brothers, Nick and Frankie. He went to Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, New Jersey.
Career Highlights
Becoming Famous with Jonas Brothers (2005–2007)

In 2005, Joe, Kevin, and Nick recorded their first song, "Please Be Mine." A record company executive liked it and signed them as a group. They thought about calling themselves "Sons of Jonas" but chose Jonas Brothers. In 2005, the band toured with artists like Kelly Clarkson and the Backstreet Boys.
Their first song, "Mandy", came out in December 2005. Their first album, It's About Time, was released on August 8, 2006. The band later signed with Hollywood Records. They released their second album on August 7, 2007. This album sold over two million copies in the United States.
Joe and his brothers also started acting. They appeared in an episode of the Disney series Hannah Montana in August 2007. They sang "We Got the Party" with Miley Cyrus. Their song "S.O.S" became a top twenty hit.
Acting and More Music (2008–2010)
In May 2008, Joe and the band started their own documentary series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream. Joe made his movie debut with his brothers in the Disney Channel film Camp Rock (2008). He sang the duet "This Is Me" for the movie. This song reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Jonas Brothers' third album, A Little Bit Longer, came out on August 12, 2008. It was their first album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album sold over two million copies. Their song "Burnin' Up" became their first top five hit. Joe and his brothers also starred in the 3D movie Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience in 2009.
Joe and his brothers starred in their second Disney Channel series, Jonas, which started on May 2, 2009. The band released their fourth album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, on June 16, 2009. Joe was a guest judge on American Idol in 2010. He also appeared in the sequel Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.
Solo Music and Band Breakup (2011–2014)
In 2011, Joe announced he was making a solo album. He wanted to add elements of funk music to it. His first song from the album, "See No More", was released on June 3, 2011. Joe joined Britney Spears on her European tour in October 2011. His second song, "Just in Love", came out in September 2011.
Joe's solo album, Fastlife, was released on October 11, 2011. It debuted at number fifteen on the Billboard 200. In May 2012, the Jonas Brothers and Joe Jonas left Hollywood Records.
In April 2013, the Jonas Brothers decided to reunite and work on a new album. Kevin Jonas starred in a reality show called Married to Jonas, which showed the band getting ready for their comeback. The band performed in Russia in September 2012. Their reunion concert was on October 11, 2012, in New York City. The band's fifth album was planned for 2013. However, on October 9, 2013, the group canceled their tour. They said there were "creative differences" within the band. A few days later, it was confirmed that the band had officially ended.
DNCE and The Voice (2015–2018)
After the Jonas Brothers broke up, Joe started a new music project. He decided to form a new band with his friends Jack Lawless and JinJoo Lee. Cole Whittle joined them, and they named the group DNCE. The name is a fun way to spell "dance."
DNCE released their first song, "Cake by the Ocean", in 2015. Their first extended play, Swaay, came out in October 2015. Their self-titled album, DNCE, was released later. It reached number nine on the Billboard 200 chart.
In 2018, Joe became a coach on the Australian version of The Voice. He had been a mentor on the American version a year before. In June 2018, Joe Jonas and DJ Jonas Blue released their song "I See Love". This song was for the movie Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Joe also voiced a Kraken character in the movie.
Jonas Brothers and DNCE Reunions (2019–2023)
In early 2019, rumors spread that the Jonas Brothers would reunite. On February 28, 2019, the Jonas Brothers officially announced their return. They released a new song, "Sucker", the next day. In April 2019, Joe Jonas appeared at WE Day California.
In January 2021, Joe was announced as part of the cast for the Korean War movie Devotion. Filming took place in Georgia and South Carolina. The movie premiered in 2022. Joe called joining the cast a "life changing" experience. In September 2022, it was announced that Joe had helped write a song called "Not Alone" for the movie's credits.
In February 2022, Joe announced that DNCE was returning with Lawless and Lee. They released a new song with Norwegian DJ Kygo, called "Dancing Feet", on February 25, 2022. The Jonas Brothers released their sixth album, The Album, in May 2023.
New Music and JONASCON 2025 (2024–Present)
On July 17, 2024, Joe Jonas announced his second solo album, Music for People Who Believe in Love. The album was released on May 23, 2025. The first song from the album, "Work It Out", came out on July 19, 2024. The second song, "What This Could Be", was released on October 4, 2024.
During JonasCon, a fan event celebrating the Jonas Brothers' 20th anniversary, Joe shared the list of songs for Music for People Who Believe in Love. "Heart by Heart" was released as the album's third song on April 25, 2025. The Jonas Brothers also released a song together, "Love Me to Heaven", on March 21, 2025. They performed it at JONASCON 2025 in New Jersey on March 23, 2025.
Personal Life
Joe Jonas has dated several famous people. He began dating English actress Sophie Turner in 2016. They got engaged in October 2017. They married on May 1, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had a second wedding ceremony in Paris, France on June 29, 2019. The couple has two daughters. Their divorce was finalized in September 2024.
In September 2021, Joe and Sophie bought a house in Miami, Florida. They sold their previous house in Encino, Los Angeles, for $15.2 million. In November 2022, their Miami home was listed for sale.
