Paul Kevin Jonas Jr. (born on November 5, 1987) is an American musician and actor. He became famous as the lead guitarist for the pop rock band Jonas Brothers. He played alongside his younger brothers, Joe and Nick.
Kevin Jonas became well-known on the Disney Channel in the late 2000s. He gained many fans through the network. He appeared in the popular musical TV movie, Camp Rock (2008). He was also in its sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010). Kevin also starred in two other series: Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008–2010) and Jonas (2009–2010).
After the Jonas Brothers took a break in 2012, Kevin starred in his own reality show. It was called Married to Jonas and aired on E! in 2012. He appeared with his wife, Danielle. After the band first broke up in 2013, Jonas was on the seventh season of The Celebrity Apprentice in 2014. He also started a construction company called Jonas Werner. He became the co-CEO of The Blu Market, a company that helps social media influencers. In 2019, he rejoined the Jonas Brothers when they got back together. The group then released their fifth studio album. The reunited Jonas Brothers appeared in two Amazon Prime Video documentaries. These were Jonas Brothers: Chasing Happiness (2019) and Happiness Continues (2020). Since July 2022, Kevin has been co-hosting the reality competition show Claim to Fame on ABC. Early Life
Paul Kevin Jonas Jr. was born on November 5, 1987. His birthplace was Teaneck, New Jersey. He grew up in Wyckoff. His mother, Denise Marie, used to be a sign language teacher and singer. His father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., is a songwriter and musician. He was also a minister at a church.
Kevin has three younger brothers: Joe (born 1989), Nick (born 1992), and Frankie (born 2000). As a child, Kevin appeared in several TV commercials. He also did print ads. Unlike his brothers, he did not plan to become a musician at first. He became interested after finding a book about playing guitar. He then started playing his father’s guitar. He went to Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, New Jersey.
Career
Early Music Career (2005–2006)
In early 2005, Columbia Records' new president, Steve Greenberg, heard Nick's music. Greenberg liked Nick's voice. After hearing the song "Please Be Mine," which all three brothers wrote and performed, Daylight/Columbia Records decided to sign them as a group.
After signing with Columbia, the brothers thought about naming their group "Sons of Jonas." They then decided on "Jonas Brothers." Their first album, It's About Time, came out on August 8, 2006. The band's manager said it was a "limited release." Only a little over 50,000 copies were made. Because Sony was not interested in promoting the band more, the Jonas Brothers looked for a new record label. Columbia Records eventually dropped the band in early 2007.
Becoming Famous with the Jonas Brothers (2007–2012)
After being without a label for a short time, the Jonas Brothers signed with Hollywood Records in February 2007. Around the same time, the brothers started appearing in Gap Inc. commercials. They sang the jingle for Baby Bottle Pop. Their second album, Jonas Brothers, was released on August 7, 2007. It reached number five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart in its first week.
Jonas and his brothers guest-starred in an episode of Hannah Montana. The episode was called "Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas." It aired on August 17, 2007, on Disney Channel. The episode premiered alongside the TV movie High School Musical 2. It also showed a sneak peek of Phineas and Ferb. The episode broke cable records with 10.7 million viewers. It became the most-watched series telecast ever on basic cable.
Jonas and his brothers also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock. They played a band called "Connect 3." Kevin played Jason, a guitarist. Nick played Nate, also a guitarist. Joe played the main male role and lead singer, Shane Gray. A soundtrack for the movie was released on June 17, 2008. The film premiered on June 20, 2008, on Disney Channel in the United States. The Disney Channel reality short series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream, premiered on Disney Channel on May 16, 2008. The show ran until September 5, 2008. It showed the brothers' lives during their Look Me in the Eyes Tour. The name was inspired by their hit song When You Look Me in the Eyes. The series was renewed for a second season. It premiered on March 21, 2010. The second season followed the band on the European part of their World Tour 2009. The Jonas Brothers' third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, was released in the United States on August 12, 2008. It reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Kevin, Joe, Nick, and Frankie starred in their own Disney Channel Original Series, Jonas. It premiered on May 2, 2009. The show was renewed for a second season. It premiered on June 20, 2010, as Jonas L.A.. It was about the brothers vacationing at their summer house in Los Angeles. On June 16, 2009, the brothers' fourth studio album was released. It was their third release under Hollywood Records. The album was titled Lines, Vines, and Trying Times. It reached number 1 on the Billboard 200. It sold 247,000 copies.
Jonas appeared on MTV's fourth episode of When I Was 17. He talked about his life as a teenager. He discussed sports and his hairstyles. He was a guest host on Live with Kelly on December 13, 2011. He hosted a second time on July 4, 2012. On May 1, 2012, it was announced that the Jonas Brothers left Hollywood Records. They bought the rights to their music.
Jonas Brothers Break and New Ventures (2013–2018)
Kevin appeared in an E! reality series with his wife, Danielle, and his brothers. It premiered on August 19, 2012. The show, Married to Jonas, was produced by Ryan Seacrest. It showed the young couple's home life. It also showed the brothers working on their fifth studio album. The final episode of the second season aired on May 26, 2013. On October 29, 2013, The Jonas Brothers officially announced that the band was breaking up. This was due to creative differences.
After the Jonas Brothers broke up in 2013, Kevin started a real estate development and construction company. It is called JonasWerner. He is also the co-CEO of The Blu Market company. This company works with communications and plans for social media influencers. Jonas was part of the seventh season of Celebrity Apprentice. It was filmed in spring 2014 in New York City. He was fired in the second episode. His team lost the competition, and he was the team leader. Kevin also made a short appearance in a 2014 episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Jonas Brothers Reunion and Happiness Begins (2019–Present)
On February 28, 2019, the brothers announced the band's reunion. This was almost six years after the Jonas Brothers first broke up. They started their reunion the next day. They released their new single, "Sucker" on March 1, 2019. They also took part in a week-long segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden. This was every day from March 4 to March 7.
Jonas and his brothers appeared in the band's documentary Chasing Happiness. It was released on June 4, 2019. On May 9, 2019, a collection album called Music from Chasing Happiness was released. It has old Jonas Brothers songs. It also includes two Nick songs, one Joe song with Lil Wayne, and a song from Joe's band DNCE. The documentary was directed by John Lloyd Taylor. It covers the brothers' childhood. It also shows how they started as a band. It explains why the band broke up and how they got back together.
They released their fifth studio album, Happiness Begins, on June 7, 2019. This was the band's first album released after their reunion. They have released two songs with other artists. These include their feature on "Runaway" by Sebastián Yatra, Daddy Yankee, and Natti Natasha. They also collaborated on "Lonely" with Diplo. They released a song called "Greenlight" for their episode of Songland on June 18. On November 8, they released a Christmas song, "Like It's Christmas".
On January 17, 2020, they released a new single, "What a Man Gotta Do". Since July 11, 2022, Kevin Jonas has been co-hosting the reality competition series Claim to Fame on ABC. He hosts it alongside his brother, Franklin Jonas.
Personal Life
Kevin Jonas lives in New Jersey with his wife, Danielle Jonas. They have two daughters. Danielle used to be a hairdresser. Kevin and Danielle got married at Oheka Castle on December 19, 2009. His brothers Joe and Nick were his best men. The couple met while on vacation with their families in the Bahamas in May 2007. Their first daughter was born on February 2, 2014. Their second daughter was born on October 27, 2016.
In April 2021, Jonas supported the organization GiveIndia. This was during the difficult situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. He asked fans to donate to the organization to help. In September 2021, Jonas and his wife Danielle announced a children's book. It is titled There's a Rock Concert in My Bedroom. The book tells the story of Emma, a girl excited about her school's talent show. The Jonases said their daughters inspired this project. The book was released in April 2022. In June 2024, Jonas shared that he was diagnosed with skin cancer. He found a malignant mole on his forehead. He had a basal cell carcinoma removed from his head.
