Frenkendorf is a lovely town, also called a municipality, located in the Liestal district in Basel-Country, a canton in Switzerland. It's a place with a rich history and beautiful surroundings.

History of Frenkendorf
Frenkendorf has a long history! It was first mentioned in official records way back in 1249. Back then, it was known as Frenchendorf.
Geography and Landscape
Frenkendorf covers an area of about 4.6 square kilometers (about 1.8 square miles). A big part of this land is used for farming, about 27.6%. Forests cover an even larger part, about 42% of the area. The rest of the land, about 30.2%, is where buildings and roads are located.
The town is built on a terrace, which is like a raised flat area, above the Ergolz valley. Over time, a new part of Frenkendorf, called Neu-Frenkendorf, grew in the valley. This happened after 1854, especially along the Basel-Olten railway line.
