Gerhard Martin Tremmel, also known as "Gerry", is a German former professional footballer. He was born on November 16, 1978. Gerry played as a goalkeeper and was known for his amazing saves and quick reactions.
He played in top football leagues like the Premier League in England and the Bundesliga in Germany. He also played in big European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. After retiring from playing, he became a scout for Swansea City.
Gerry holds some impressive goalkeeping records. In the 2012–13 season, he had the best "saves per goal conceded" ratio in the Premier League. This means he made 4.2 saves for every goal that got past him. He also saved 80.9% of the shots he faced that season, which was the best in the league. Only Manuel Neuer, a famous goalkeeper from Bayern Munich, had a better saves-to-shots ratio in Europe that year.

Gerry's Football Journey
Starting Out in Football
Gerry Tremmel started playing football at a young age. He was part of the youth teams at big clubs like Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich. He spent three years learning and developing his skills there.
After his youth career, he joined SpVgg Unterhaching. This is where he played his first senior professional games. He then moved to other German clubs, including Hannover 96 and Hertha BSC. For a season, he played for Hertha's reserve team.
In 2006, Gerry joined Energie Cottbus. He played there for four years before moving to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria in 2010.
Time at Swansea City
On August 30, 2011, Gerry joined Swansea City in England. They had just been promoted to the Premier League, which is the top football league in England. The manager, Brendan Rodgers, signed him after he played very well in some friendly matches.
Gerry made his first official appearance for Swansea on January 7, 2012, in an FA Cup game. They won 4-2 against Barnsley. His Premier League debut came on February 26, 2012, against Stoke City.
In the 2012–13 season, Gerry got more chances to play. The main goalkeeper, Michel Vorm, got injured. This meant Gerry became the first-choice goalkeeper for a while.
With Gerry in goal, Swansea went on an amazing seven-match unbeaten run. They won important away games against big teams like Liverpool and Arsenal. He also managed to keep a "clean sheet" (meaning the other team didn't score) against teams like Chelsea and Arsenal. His manager, Michael Laudrup, praised him, saying it was great to have such a good goalkeeper.
Because of his excellent performances, Swansea extended Gerry's contract until 2015.
On February 24, 2013, Gerry helped Swansea achieve something incredible. They beat Bradford City 5-0 in the League Cup final. This was the biggest winning margin ever in a League Cup final! This victory gave Swansea their first major trophy and allowed them to play in the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League. It was a huge moment in Gerry's career.
Gerry left Swansea briefly in 2015 but then re-joined them for another two years. He finally left the club in May 2017.
Loan to Werder Bremen
In January 2016, Gerry went on loan to Werder Bremen in his home country, Germany.
Life After Playing Football
After leaving Swansea City as a player in 2017, Gerry Tremmel didn't leave football completely. He took on a new role as a scout for the club. A scout's job is to find new talented players for the team.
