Stanley Grant Holloway (born November 19, 1997) is an American professional hurdler and sprinter. He is known for being one of the fastest hurdlers in history. Grant has won three world championships in the 110 meters hurdles (in 2019, 2022, and 2023). He also won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 110 meters hurdles.

Grant Holloway is the second-fastest man ever in the 110 meters hurdles, with a personal best time of 12.81 seconds. This amazing time was set in 2021. In the 60 meters hurdles, which is an indoor event, he holds the world record with a time of 7.27 seconds. He set this record in 2024 and has won two World Indoor Championships in this event (in 2022 and 2024).

Even though he is mainly a hurdler, Grant is also very good at other track and field events. When he competed for the University of Florida, he also ran flat races, relays, and did the long jump. His wide range of skills helped his team a lot at the NCAA Championships. From 2017 to 2018, his Florida team won three NCAA Championships and came in second in three others. As of February 2024, he had not lost an indoor sprint hurdles race since March 2014, when he was only 16 years old!

Grant Holloway's Early Life

Stanley Grant Holloway was born on November 19, 1997, in Chesapeake, Virginia. His parents are Latasha and Stan Holloway. When he was younger, his father, Stan, coached him and his older brother, Trey, in track and field. They were part of a club called Track 757.

Grant continued to compete in track and field with his brother at Grassfield High School. He also played football as a wide receiver. When it was time for college, he chose to go to the University of Florida for hurdles instead of playing football at the University of Georgia.

He also broke his own college record with an amazing time of 7.35 seconds, which was also an American record.

Grant was one of the most versatile athletes in college sports. He set personal bests in many events: 6.50 seconds in the 60 m dash, 12.98 seconds in the 110m hurdles, 8.17 meters in the long jump, and a super fast 43.75-second split in the 4 × 400m relay.

His NCAA record of 12.98 seconds in the 110m hurdles, set at the NCAA Division I Championships, broke a 40-year-old record! He was also part of the team that set a record in the 4 × 100m relay at these championships, running it in 37.97 seconds. This was the first time a college team ran it under 38 seconds.

Grant won NCAA championships in both the 60m hurdles and 110m hurdles from 2017 to 2019. He also won the 60m dash and 60m hurdles in 2019. He earned many top finishes in the long jump, 4 × 100m relay, and 4 × 400m relay. His amazing performances were key to helping the Florida Gators win team titles in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
