Stanley Grant Holloway (born November 19, 1997) is an American professional hurdler and sprinter. He won a gold medal in the 110 meters hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is the second-fastest man ever in the 110m hurdles, with a personal best of 12.81 seconds. This amazing time was set at the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 26, 2021.
Grant Holloway is also a three-time world champion in the 110m hurdles. He won these titles in 2019 Doha, 2022 Eugene, and 2023 Budapest. In the 60 meters hurdles, he is a three-time world indoor champion. He won these titles in 2022 Belgrade, 2024 Glasgow, and 2025 Nanjing. He also holds the world indoor record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.27 seconds. He set this record at the 2024 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Even though he is best known for hurdles, Grant is a very versatile athlete. When he competed for the University of Florida, he also ran flat races, relays, and did the Long jump. His wide range of skills really helped his team at the NCAA Championships. Between 2017 and 2018, Florida won three NCAA Championships and came in second in three others, thanks to his efforts. As of March 2025, he has not lost an indoor sprint hurdles race since March 2014, when he was only 16 years old!

Grant Holloway's Early Life
Grant Holloway was born on November 19, 1997, in Chesapeake, Virginia. His parents are Latasha and Stan Holloway. Grant and his older brother, Trey, were coached in track and field by their father, Stan. They were part of the Track 757 club.
Grant continued to compete in track and field with his brother at Grassfield High School. He also played football as a wide receiver. When it was time for college, he chose to focus on hurdles at the University of Florida. He decided this over playing football at the University of Georgia.

High School Achievements
Grant Holloway started competing in high school as a freshman in 2013. He was a hurdler and jumper, and also ran on relay teams. He quickly showed his talent, finishing high in state championships.
Becoming a National Star
In 2014, Grant started competing at a national level. He won state championships in the 55 meters hurdles and high jump. He also placed high in national meets. After losing two 60m hurdles races to Isiah Moore, Grant began an incredible winning streak. He has not lost a 55m or 60m hurdles race indoors since then!
Continued Success and Records
As a junior in 2015, Grant continued to excel. He won multiple state championships, including the 55m hurdles and long jump. At the New Balance Indoor Nationals, he won the 60m hurdles. This was a very close race, and his time was one of the fastest ever for a high school athlete.
In his senior year, 2016, Grant added even more events and set national records. He won three state championships, including his third straight 55m hurdles title. He also won his second national title in the 60m hurdles, setting a new national record. Grant finished his high school career with sixteen state championships and three indoor national championships.
College Years at Florida
2017: A Strong Start
At the University of Florida, Grant Holloway continued to show his amazing skills. He was undefeated in the 60m high hurdles. He won the NCAA Indoor Title with a top time of 7.58 seconds. He also competed in the long jump and helped his team's 4 × 400m relay. Outdoors, he won the 110m hurdles NCAA title.
2018: Defending Titles and Setting Records
Grant's 2018 season was just as impressive. He kept his unbeaten streak in the 60m high hurdles. He defended his NCAA title, setting a new college record of 7.42 seconds. Outdoors, he set a world-leading time of 13.15 seconds in the 110m hurdles. He then defended his NCAA title in that event too. He also helped his team in various relays and the long jump.
2019: Breaking Records and Making History

The year 2019 was a huge breakthrough for Grant. He won his third straight NCAA title in the 60m high hurdles. He broke his own college record with an incredible time of 7.35 seconds, which was also an American record. This made him the third-fastest man ever in that event.
Grant was one of the most versatile athletes in college sports. He set personal bests in the 60m dash, 110m hurdles, and long jump. He also ran a very fast split in the 4 × 400m relay. His NCAA record of 12.98 seconds in the 110m hurdles broke a 40-year-old record! He was also part of the first college team to run a 4 × 100m relay in under 38 seconds. Grant's amazing performances helped the Florida Gators win several team championships.
Professional Career Highlights
Grant Holloway set the 60m hurdles world record on February 24, 2021. He broke a 27-year-old record by running 7.29 seconds. This win also made him the overall champion of the 2021 World Indoor Tour in the 60m hurdles.
He made his professional outdoor debut in April 2021. He won the 110m hurdles final with a very fast time. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, he earned a silver medal in the 110m hurdles. In 2024, he won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in the 110m hurdles.
Awards and Special Recognition

Grant Holloway has received many awards for his incredible talent. In 2018, he was a finalist for The Bowerman, a top award for college track and field athletes. In 2019, he won The Bowerman. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) also named him the Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
Track & Field News magazine also recognized him as the top U.S. College Men's Indoor and Outdoor Athlete of the Year in 2019. After setting the world record in the 60m hurdles and having an undefeated indoor season in 2021, he was runner-up for the Indoor Men's Athlete Of The Year. In 2024, Grant Holloway was named Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year.
