Grover Underwood is a fun and loyal fictional character from Rick Riordan's popular Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series. He is a satyr, which means he is a mythical creature that is half goat and half human. Grover has the upper body of a human, but his legs are like a goat's, and he even has small horns.
To blend in with humans, Grover wears fake feet. His curly brown hair usually hides his horns, though they do grow bigger over time. Sometimes, he wears an orange rasta cap to keep them hidden. Even though Grover is 32 years old, he acts like a 16-year-old human. This is because satyrs age much slower than humans do.
In the movies, Grover is played by Brandon T. Jackson. He appeared in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. These movies are based on the first two books of the series.

About Grover Underwood
Grover is the very best friend of Percy Jackson. As a satyr, he has a special connection with nature and animals. He also has an "empathy link" with Percy. This means they share a deep bond, and if something really bad happens to one of them, the other will feel it strongly.
Grover can get scared easily. When he's frightened, his eyes change to look like a goat's, and he might even start eating furniture or tin cans! But even when he's scared, Grover is incredibly loyal. He always tries his best to protect his friends. He is also good at handling dangerous situations, like when he was captured by Polyphemus the Cyclops. Grover loves enchiladas but is surprisingly afraid of rabbits.
Grover cares deeply about nature and hates pollution. He secretly admires Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, because she is also very connected to nature. Grover's girlfriend is a nymph named Juniper. They are first seen together in The Battle of the Labyrinth. Grover can talk to animals and often helps them. A big part of his life is searching for Pan, the god of the wild.
Grover's Adventures in the Books
Discovering Half-Bloods in The Lightning Thief
In The Lightning Thief, Grover goes undercover as a student at Yancy Academy. He is looking for half-bloods, who are children of gods and humans. Many half-bloods have ADHD and dyslexia, and Grover is good at spotting them. He finds Percy Jackson and tells Mr. Brunner, who is actually Chiron, the director of Camp Half-Blood.
Grover shows Percy his true satyr form when they are attacked by a Minotaur. He then joins Percy and Annabeth Chase on a quest to the Underworld. Their mission is to find Zeus's stolen Master Lightning Bolt. By the end of the book, Grover earns his searcher's license, which allows him to officially search for Pan, the god of the Wild.
Searching for Pan in The Sea of Monsters
In The Sea of Monsters, Grover is still searching for Pan when he is captured by Polyphemus the Cyclops. Polyphemus mistakes Grover for a female Cyclops and traps him. During this time, Grover creates the empathy link with Percy. Percy sees Grover's capture in his dreams and realizes his friend is in danger.
Percy, along with Annabeth and his half-brother Tyson, goes on a quest to rescue Grover. They find him trapped in Polyphemus's lair. At the end of the book, the powerful Golden Fleece is used to heal Thalia's spirit, which had been trapped in a pine tree.
Meeting New Half-Bloods in The Titan's Curse
Grover goes undercover again in The Titan's Curse, this time at a military school. He finds two new half-bloods, Nico and Bianca di Angelo. Grover asks Percy to help bring them safely to Camp Half-Blood. While trying to get the di Angelos, a monster called a manticore attacks them.
The Hunters of Artemis arrive and help defeat the monster. However, Annabeth goes missing during the fight. Artemis is then kidnapped, and a quest is launched to save her. Grover joins Percy, Thalia, Bianca (who becomes a Hunter), and Zoe Nightshade on this quest. During their journey, Grover has special experiences where Pan, the god of the Wild, seems to speak to him.
The Labyrinth and Pan's Message in The Battle of the Labyrinth
In The Battle of the Labyrinth, we meet Juniper, Grover's nymph girlfriend. Grover is worried because the Council of Cloven Elders is about to take away his searcher's license if he doesn't find Pan soon. He, Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson enter the Labyrinth to find Daedalus, its creator.
Grover and Tyson split up from Percy and Annabeth for a while. Later, Grover finally finds Pan. Pan tells Grover that he must fade away and leave the job of protecting nature to Grover and everyone else on Earth. Grover then uses a powerful "cry of Panic" during a battle, which helps the campers win.
The Last Battle in The Last Olympian
Grover is missing for two months at the start of The Last Olympian. Percy and Nico find him sleeping under a tree in Central Park. They realize Morpheus, the god of dreams, put him to sleep. Grover shares important information about minor gods joining Kronos's side. He also helps Percy and Nico enter the Underworld by playing his reed pipes.
After the big battle, Grover's exile is ended. He is given a high position in the Council of Cloven Elders. Grover is then named the new Lord of the Wild, a very important role for a satyr.

- Pan's Scream: In The Battle of the Labyrinth, Grover unleashes a powerful cry that can cause fear and confusion in enemies, helping his friends.
