Gulliver's Travels is a fun fantasy adventure comedy film from 2010. It was directed by Rob Letterman, and it was his first time directing a live-action movie. The film was produced by John Davis and Gregory Goodman, with a story written by Joe Stillman and Nicholas Stoller. The music was created by Henry Jackman.
This movie is loosely based on the famous 1726 book Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift. However, this film updates the story to modern times and includes many references to today's pop culture. Movie Release and Promotion
The first official preview (trailer) for Gulliver's Travels came out on June 3, 2010. It was shown in theaters before the movie Marmaduke. A second trailer was released on November 5, 2010, and was shown before Megamind. As a fun prize, four contestants from the TV show Survivor: Nicaragua got to watch the movie early.
Changes to Release Dates
The movie's release date changed a few times. It was first planned for June 4, 2010. Then it was moved to December 24, 2010, and later to December 22, 2010. On March 23, 2010, 20th Century Fox announced that the film would be changed to 3D for a more immersive experience. Finally, on December 13, the release date was moved one last time to December 25, 2010.
Special Short Film
When Gulliver's Travels played in theaters, it came with a short animated film from the Ice Age series. This short was called Scrat's Continental Crack-up.
Watching at Home
Gulliver's Travels was released for home viewing on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on April 19, 2011, by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Later, it also became available to stream on Disney+ starting May 21, 2021.
