Hacker Time was a fun British TV show for kids. It was a mix of a sketch comedy show and a talk show. The main star was the hilarious dog puppet, Hacker T. Dog.

On the show, Hacker would chat with famous people. He also played games and showed funny short skits. The show was on CBBC from 2011 to 2016. There were six series in total.

Behind the Scenes: Making Hacker Time

Hacker Time was created by CBBC Productions. It was a popular show for many years.

How the Show Was Made

The show was filmed in a studio. Each episode was about 30 minutes long. A new series was often announced a few months before it aired. For example, the fifth series was announced in December 2014. It started airing in July 2015.

When the Show Ended

After six successful series, Hacker Time stopped making new episodes. In 2017, it was confirmed that the show would not return.

Episodes of Hacker Time

Hacker Time had 63 episodes across six series. Each series had about 10 to 13 episodes. The show aired new episodes every year from 2011 to 2016.

Show Segments and Sketches

Each episode of Hacker Time had a special structure. It always started with something funny going wrong in the studio. Then came the show's opening song.

Regular Features

Hacker would often interview a celebrity. They would play games and watch funny sketches. Some parts of the show were always there, like a "fact file" about the guest. There was also a silly "fictional commercial break" in some episodes.

Games and Songs

A popular game was "Sit on the Lav Lav and Answer My Questions" in earlier series. Later, it changed to "GET OFF!!!". Hacker also always had a funny song to sing. At the end, there was a goodbye song to remind viewers to watch next time.

Recurring Sketches

The show had many funny recurring sketches. These were like mini-shows within Hacker Time.

Series 1 Sketches

  • Downstairs Abbey: This was a spoof of the show Downton Abbey. Hacker T. Dog and Dodge T. Dog played maids. They were in love with their master, Lord Percy (played by Ed Petrie). But Lord Percy liked someone else, Lady Sarah. Things always went wrong when Lord Percy tried to impress Lady Sarah.
  • Betterer Arena: In this sketch, Hacker tried to be better than his celebrity guest at their own job. He always failed in a hilarious way! Warrick Brownlow-Pike played different assistants for Hacker.

Series 2 Sketches

  • The Adventures of Sherlock Bones: This was a funny version of Sherlock Holmes. Hacker played Sherlock Bones, solving mysteries in the land of Teapot. His conclusions were always silly.
  • Derek Time: Derek, one of Hacker's assistants, would show three funny clips. If Hacker said no to showing them, Derek would threaten to show a "secret photograph" to the viewers!

Series 3 Sketches

  • Casually: This was a "hard-hitting medical docu-drama" that made fun of the show Casualty. The doctors and nurses always gave the wrong treatments.
  • Tales of the Mild West: Hacker became the mayor of an old western town in this sketch.

Series 4 Sketches

  • A Knight's Tale: This historical drama appeared in the first half of the series.
  • Aeroport: This was a mockumentary (a fake documentary) set in an airport. It showed funny things happening there.

Series 5 Sketches

  • Ms Marbles Mysteries: In the first half of this series, Hacker played Ms Marbles. She was a detective who solved many mysteries, like a parody of Miss Marple.
  • The Next Step But One: This sketch made fun of the dance show The Next Step.
  • Lost and Found (And Lost Again): Later in Series 5, this sketch replaced "The Next Step But One". It was a parody of Lost and Found, a spin-off of The Next Step.
