Susanna Reid, born on December 10, 1970, is a well-known English TV presenter and journalist. She used to host BBC Breakfast from 2001 to 2014 with Bill Turnbull and Charlie Stayt. In 2013, she was a runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing with her dance partner Kevin Clifton. Since 2014, Susanna has been the main presenter of Good Morning Britain on ITV. She works with presenters like Kate Garraway, Richard Madeley, and Ed Balls. She also hosted Sunday Morning Live on BBC One from 2010 to 2011.

Early Life and School Days
Susanna Reid grew up in Croydon, South London. She is the youngest of three children. She went to schools like Croham Hurst School, Croydon High School, and St Paul's Girls' School in London. Her parents separated when she was nine years old. Her dad was a business consultant, and her mom was a nurse.
When she was younger, Susanna acted in plays. She was in Agatha Christie's Spider's Web in 1982. She also appeared in The Price on Channel 4 in 1985.
Susanna studied Politics and Philosophy at the University of Bristol from 1989 to 1992. While there, she was the editor of the student newspaper, Epigram. After that, she trained to be a journalist at Cardiff University. She earned a special diploma in Broadcast Journalism.
Television Career Highlights
Susanna started her career in 1994 at BBC Radio Bristol as a news producer. In 1996, she became a producer for Radio 5 Live. Later, she joined BBC News 24. One night, the usual presenter didn't show up, so Susanna stepped in. She was three months pregnant at the time. This led to her becoming a permanent presenter.
Working at BBC Breakfast
Susanna was one of the main presenters on BBC Breakfast. She presented with Bill Turnbull on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Before that, she worked with Charlie Stayt on weekends. She took on this main role in 2012, replacing Sian Williams.
In 2010, Susanna briefly stopped her weekend Breakfast duties. She took on a role for a new show called Sunday Morning Live. She returned to her weekend BBC Breakfast role within two weeks after the first series ended.
Susanna was also the regular newsreader for the headlines on The Andrew Marr Show. On May 16, 2010, she filled in for Andrew Marr during the Sunday newspaper review. This happened when he was late after interviewing the new Prime Minister, David Cameron. Susanna handed back to Marr after the review. She presented the main show for the first time on March 10, 2013. This was after Marr had a stroke. Susanna also presented the BBC's live coverage of the Oscars from Los Angeles in 2009 and 2010.
Strictly Come Dancing Journey
In 2013, Susanna took part in Strictly Come Dancing (series 11). Her professional dance partner was Kevin Clifton. They danced their way to the final and finished as one of the joint runners-up. On December 31, 2013, Susanna also presented the New Year Live programme on BBC One.
Moving to Good Morning Britain
In February 2014, there were reports that ITV wanted Susanna for their new breakfast show. On March 3, 2014, the BBC confirmed her move to ITV. She joined Good Morning Britain, which replaced the old show Daybreak. She co-hosts the show from 6 am to 9 am.
On December 19, 2014, Susanna appeared on a special Text Santa episode of Tipping Point. She was with other Good Morning Britain presenters. In 2017, she co-presented Save Money: Good Food with Matt Tebbutt.
In October 2018, Susanna had a small role in the TV show Hollyoaks. In July 2020, she appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with TV judge Robert Rinder. On May 3, 2022, Susanna interviewed Prime Minister Boris Johnson live on Good Morning Britain. In 2023, she was a sitter for Sky Arts' “Portrait Artist of the Year”.
Awards and Recognition
In March 2014, the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) named Susanna Newsreader of the Year. This was just a week after her move to ITV was announced. She won the same award again in 2015. Also in 2015, her old university, Cardiff University, gave her an Honorary Fellowship. This is a special award. In February 2024, Susanna won 'Network Presenter of the Year' at the Royal Television Society Television Journalism Awards.
Personal Life and Interests
Susanna separated from her partner, former sports correspondent Dominic Cotton, in 2014. They had been together for 16 years and have three sons. Susanna lives in Balham, South London.
She is a big fan of Crystal Palace football club. She even visited their home ground, Selhurst Park, with her dance partner during Strictly Come Dancing in 2013. In 2015, she shared that she has "very mild tinnitus". In November 2018, Susanna shared that she was in a relationship with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish. However, their relationship ended in April 2019.
Susanna is a pescetarian. This means she eats fish but no other meat. She used to talk about this sometimes with chef James Martin on Saturday Kitchen.
Helping Others: Charity Work
Susanna often helps Media Trust, a charity that connects other charities with the media. She has hosted events for the Myotubular Trust and Voluntary Arts England. In 1998, she worked for three months in Sri Lanka. She was a volunteer media consultant for a charity there. This charity helped victims of the civil war and ran orphanages.
On April 22, 2012, Susanna took part in the London Marathon. She ran to raise money for Sport Relief. She finished the race in just over five hours.
